NEW YORK Department of Motor Vehicles

Checklist for 2021 HYANDAI


Bring the following documents with you to a DMV office:

[ ] Application for Vehicle Registration / Title (MV-82).


Download online and complete the Application for Vehicle Registration (pdf) (MV-82)
(PDF)
[ ] NY State License / Non-Driver ID
Must be current or not expired for more than two years.
[ ] NY State Title or NY State Transferrable Registration (if available).
You will need to bring in current proof of insurance.
[ ] Form FS-20, FS-21, or FS-75.

Bring money for fees.


• Fees depend on weight, class and where you live. Exact fees cannot be calculated
until you apply. Estimate your Registration Fee

• You can pay by:


• Cash.
• Credit or debit card (American Express, Discover, MasterCard, VISA).
• Check or money order made out to Commissioner of Motor Vehicles.

• Based on your responses, you will NOT owe sales tax.

• Bring a lien release if you have one.

Please Note:

Your documents must:


• Be original.
• Have the same name.

We will not accept:


• Damaged or illegible documents.
• Any photo document that you are not clearly recognizable.

If you already have NY State license plates that you want to use or transfer to
this vehicle:
• Bring in your vehicle registration and license plates.
• Make sure your insurance company is aware of the transfer.

If more than one person registers or titles the vehicle:


• If the registrant is not the owner of the vehicle, the owner must complete and
sign Section 3 of the Vehicle Registration / Title Application (pdf) (MV-82).
• Each person must provide Proofs of Identity (pdf) (ID-82).
• All signatures must match the signatures on the proofs of identity submitted.
• Make sure all papers are signed by buyers, sellers, and people registering the
vehicle before coming in.
