Reintroducing Potentially Allergenic Foods

For the potentially allergenic foods, use the weekend to continue to expose
your baby to the new allergenic food of the week that you first introduced on
Friday. Keep in mind that if your baby is going to have an allergic reaction to
food, the vast majority of allergic reactions will occur within minutes and up
to no more than 2 hours following ingestion.

Use your weekend meals to reintroduce familiar foods from previous

days/weeks and to continue offering exposures of the new allergenic food.
Allergic reactions are most likely to occur on the second or subsequent
exposure; therefore, it is important to introduce the new potentially
allergenic food multiple times.

Continue to incorporate all of the potentially allergenic foods your baby has
already tried. Repeated exposure to these food proteins is important for
lowering the risk of food allergy.
