INTRODUCTION
The Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test which is commonly known as GPAT, is the
national level entrance examination for admission to various M. Pharm courses
offered by more than 800 participating institutes. Till 2018, All India Council for Tech-
nical Education (AICTE) used to conduct GPAT exam, but since 2019, the National
Testing Agency (NTA) has become the official exam conducting body for GPAT. Candi-
dates who qualify the entrance examination and comply with the eligibility criteria are
admitted to M. Pharm course at participating institutes based on the score obtained.
GPAT is an online computer-based examination conducted at national level for stu-
dents aspiring for post graduation in Pharmacy. Candidates are asked multiple choice
questions in the exam which is conducted for a duration of 3 hours.

Since, around 42827 candidates appear for this examination every year, many of them
search for some documents which can give them comprehensive information about
GPAT or where they can know about all the stages of the examination. To quench the
thirst of such aspirants, we thought of compiling this E-Book (All about GPAT) which

IMPORTANT DATES
The conducting body for GPAT, i.e. National Testing Agency (NTA) releases exam
schedule for the entrance examination. This exam schedule includes dates of avail-
ability of application form, admit card, exam date, result, etc. These dates are most
important to know for those aspiring for GPAT exam. Thus, the table below provides
for important events related with GPAT exam:

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
The concerned authorities have stipulated a definite criteria of eligibility that has to
be strictly complied with. Aspirants have to check themselves if they are eligible to
appear for GPAT exam. Those candidates who are found ineligible for the entrance
examination are to be declared disqualified at any stage regardless of having qualified
the examination. Thus, it is important to know who all are eligible for this pharmacy
entrance examination.

Qualifying Examination ●● 4 year course in Pharmacy after 10+2 from a recognized
university
●● Final year students of B.Pharm are also eligible to apply, pro-
vided that their result should be declared before admission to
the respective session commences.
Who is not Qualified Candidates with a degree in B.Tech (Pharmaceutical and Fine
Chemical Technology) are not to be considered eligible.

REGISTRATION
A candidate who is willing to appear for GPAT exam has to register and fill application
form before last date. Application form is released in the first week of November and
is available for a month. Candidates are required to duly fill all requisite details and
upload the documents as provided below.

Registration Pre- Requisites


●● Qualification details of the candidate
●● Scanned passport sized photograph (In JPG/JPEG format and size between 10
kb to 200 kb)
●● Scanned signature (In JPG/JPEG format and size between 4 kb to 30 kb)
●● A valid email ID (for communication of all sorts of information)
●● A valid mobile number (for information via SMS)
●● Payment- A valid debit/ credit card or Net banking account details

Steps to fill GPAT Application Form

Step 1 - GPAT Registration


●● Visit the official website of GPAT at ntagpat.nic.in.
●● Enter your basic details like name, parents’ names, DOB, gender, address, Email ID,
Aadhaar number (or any other identity proof) and mobile number.
●● A window mentioning all the details provided by the candidate will be displayed
onscreen, verify them and submit.
●● Another window prompting the completion of GPAT registration process will be
displayed.
●● A unique 12-digit application number will be mentioned on the window. The same
will be sent to the candidate via text and e-mail. Click on ‘Complete Application
Form’ to proceed to the next step.

Step 2- Filling the GPAT Application Form


●● In the next tab, some blanks will be auto-filled and the rest are to be filled by can-
didates.
●● Select ‘GPAT’ as the exam you want to apply for and choose four exam cities in
the order of preference.
●● Fill your qualification, pass status, name of exam and university, year of passing/
appearing, result mode and marks.

Step 3- Upload Scanned Files


●● Upload your photograph according to the specifications mentioned onscreen. The
photograph can be either coloured or black and white (with clear contrast and
sharpness). The file size should be between 10 KB- 200 KB. The file format should
be JPG/ JPEG.
●● Upload a scanned copy of your signature. The size should be between 4 KB- 30 KB
and format should be JPG/ JPEG.
●● Enter the security pin, check-mark the box next to the declaration and click on
‘Upload’.
●● A window indicating the completion of Step 3 will be displayed along with the
amount of application fee you are required to pay (as per your category).

Step 4- Fee Payment


●● Candidates will be required to pay the requisite fee through online mode (Debit/
Credit Card/ Net Banking/ e-Challan).
●● After selecting SBI MOPS as the payment provider, click on ‘Proceed for payment’.
●● Next, choose the mode of payment.
●● Pay the application fee of GPAT. The amount of application fee for different cat-
egories.

EXAM CENTRES
NTA has provided a list of cities wherein GPAT exam is conducted. The respective
candidates have to choose 4 cities as per their order of preference, while filling the
application form. Thus, the list of exam centres is provided in the table below for ref-
erence. Candidates have to comply with the code of conduct set by authorities and
follow the instructions carefully.

ADMIT CARD
Candidates who successfully fill the application form are able to download their admit
card which is released in the last week of December. The same has to be downloaded,
printed and has to be carried along on the date of exam.

How to Download GPAT Admit Card?


1. Visit the official website of conducting body (NTA) at ntagpat.nic.in
2. Click on “Download GPAT admit card”
3. Chose the option of downloading through application number and password or
date of birth, as the case maybe
4. Now, click on ‘Sign in’ button
5. Candidate’s GPAT admit card will be displayed on screen
6. Download and print 2-3 good quality copies of this admit card

EXAM PATTERN
GPAT is an online computer-based exam which is conducted for 3 hours in the last
week of January. Candidates have to deal with a number of Multiple- choice questions
wherein, negative marking also has to be taken care of. Thus, aspirants should have a
look at the GPAT exam pattern before kick-starting their preparation.

ANSWER KEY
NTA releases the interim answer key on the official website within a few days of exam
conduct. This answer key aids GPAT aspirants to have an idea of their probable score.
It may be noted that this answer key is subject to challenge by candidates within a
stipulated period. Thus, wherever there is a confirmation, one should raise challenges
against a question so that loss of marks is avoided. The final answer key is released
along with result in online mode which is not subject to challenges.

How to challenge GPAT Answer Key?


●● Visit the official website at nta.ac.in (the exact link shall be provided as soon as it
is made available) to challenge the GPAT answer key.
●● Enter your GPAT application number and password/ date of birth.
●● Click on the ‘Click to challenge answer key’ button.
●● Select the answer options to be challenged and click on ‘Save your claims’.
●● Upload the required documents for proof and click on ‘Save your claims and pay
the fee’.

How to calculate GPAT score?


●● Use the official marking scheme of GPAT to calculate your score. According to the
GPAT marking scheme, candidates will be rewarded with 4 marks for every correct
answer while every incorrect response will deduct one mark.
●● GPAT score = (4 x Number of correct responses) + (1 x Number of incorrect
responses)

RESULT
NTA releases the GPAT result in online mode in February after answer key challenges
are over. The result is accompanied by final answer key which can not be challenged
anyway. This will be followed by the process of counselling.

Steps to download GPAT result:


1. Visit official website of GPAT. (https://ntagpat.nic.in)
2. Click on the ‘View GPAT Result’.
3. Enter your login credentials i.e, your application number and password/ date of birth.
4. Click on ‘Sign in’ and then on ‘View result’.
5. Your NTA scorecard will be displayed. The score card looks like the image below
6. Download and print out at least 2-3 copies of the same for future reference.

MERIT LIST
NTA releases the merit list containing candidate ranks and the score obtained thereon.
It may be noted that ranks are allotted keeping regard of repetitive scores by multiple
candidates. Thus, number of candidates overthrow the scope of comparatively legible

CUT OFF
The concerned authorities announce category wise cutoff score of GPAT after the

COUNSELLING
After declaration of result, candidates are required to apply at concerned participating
institutes keeping in regard their GPAT score and the separate cutoff of that institute
respectively. Candidates have to show up at concerned participating institutes on the
stipulated dates along with documents of proof as provided below.
