Project Title : HAND GESTURE MOTION DETECTION

Description:

Capturing hand motion and writing in air is the most mesmerizing and demanding research in
the field of image processing and pattern recognition. Several researches have been working to
capture different gestures of the human that can later be perceived by machines to convert into
understandable format without increasing the processing time and thereby enhancing the
accuracy. As a part of controlling the devices through human hand gestures this work focuses on
digital drawing canvas that utilizes a pie camera and OpenCV to recognize and map hand
gestures on to a screen. It presents a real time video based pointing method which allows
sketching and writing of English text over air in front of camera. The direction of the brush is
controlled completely using open source OpenCV software and modified to map the pointer
finger on the screen and also record colour of the user hand. It includes the further steps of
morphological operations on the mask produced with Erosion and Dilation.
