OPERATIONAL AMPLIFIER
9.1 Objectives
(a) To construct the operational amplifier as a non-inverting amplifier and inverting
amplifier
(b) To measure the voltage gain of a non-inverting amplifier and an inverting
amplifier
9.3 Introduction
An operational amplifier is a very high gain amplifier having very high input impedance,
and low output impedance. Figure 9.1 shows a basic op-amp.

2. Switch on the waveform generator and set its operating frequency fo=1 kHz and
voltage amplitude Vi = 0.4 Vpp.
3. Switch on the power supply.
4. Using an oscilloscope, measure Vi and Vo voltages, and calculate its voltage gain.
Take the pictures of their waveforms.
5. Calculate its voltage gain using the resistor values, i.e. Rf and R1.
6. Discuss your observation by comparing the voltage gain obtained from Step 4 and
Step 5.
