2.2 Design and construction
The current source built into SVERKER can provide
0-10 A, 0-40 A, 0-100 A, 0-250 V AC or
0-300 V DC. T i m i n g a n d generation ( o u t p u t ) can be
carried o u t simultaneously. W h e n t h e relay p r o t e c t i o n
e q u i p m e n t trips, b o t h o u t p u t and t i m i n g are inter-
rupted.

Note The current output depends on the burden of

the relay (circuit). This means that it is possible
to get high output currents, over the maxi-
mum measurement range of 250 A.
There is also a separate built-in A C voltage source t o
supply t h e relay voltage i n p u t .

A 20-220 V DC voltage source is used t o provide

auxiliary voltage.

The quality o f t h e o u t p u t signal is d e p e n d i n g o n t h e

quality o f t h e i n p u t voltage. If t h e main voltage is
distorted t h e o u t p u t signal w i l l also be d i s t o r t e d .
However, t h e AC voltage source in SVERKER 7 8 0 is
fully synthesized by t h e instruments itself a n d t h e r e -
fore i n d e p e n d e n t o f t h e mains i n p u t voltage.

SVERKER is e q u i p p e d w i t h a timer, a m m e t e r and

voltmeter, a n d these instruments can also be used t o
indicate resistance, impedance, phase angle, p o w e r
and p o w e r factor. Moreover, these instruments can be
used for measurements in external circuits.

A set o f resistors and a capacitor (SVERKER 750) are

provided, and they can be connected into t h e circuits
being tested t o provide phase shifts, fine adjustments
a n d t h e like.

A make/break contact can be used t o synchronize

o t h e r circuits w i t h tests t h a t are being c o n d u c t e d .

SVERKER settings are m a d e using knobs a n d o t h e r

controls o n t h e control panel. Numerous o t h e r set-
tings can be made via t h e display w i n d o w built i n t o
t h e control panel.

a 90° phase displacement of the current.
The phase angle is determined by the
phase-changing components and the
load. Since changing the phase angle also
causes the current/voltage to change, you
must first adjust the phase angle and then
set the current/voltage.
If possible, use the ammeter's external
panel input to measure the phase angle
since this will provide better accuracy and
lower currents.
