IGNITION SWITCH 1. Remove instrument panel knee protector and steering column covers. Disconnect wiring connector from ignition switch. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity at switch side of connector. See Fig. 2 and Fig. 4 . See IGNITION SWITCH CONTINUITY table. 2. Operate ignition switch while checking continuity between terminals. See Fig. 2 and Fig. 4 . Replace ignition switch assembly if continuity is not as specified. Removal
Disconnect negative battery cable from auxiliary jumper terminal on left side strut tower. Remove upper steering column shroud. Pull lower shroud down far enough to access lock cylinder retaining tab. Place lock cylinder in RUN position. Depress retaining tab and remove lock cylinder. See Fig. 7 .
Installation
1. Insert ignition key into lock cylinder. Turn key to RUN position (retaining tab can be depressed). Shaft at end of lock cylinder aligns with socket in end of housing. To align socket with lock cylinder, ensure socket is in RUN position. 2. Align lock cylinder with grooves in housing. Slide lock cylinder into housing until tab sticks through opening in housing. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove key. Install steering column shrouds. Connect negative battery cable.

Removal
1. Disconnect battery negative cable from auxiliary jumper terminal on left side strut tower. Remove fuse panel cover from left end of instrument panel. Remove screw holding end of instrument panel top cover. 2. Pull center bezel off. Remove screws holding instrument panel top cover to center of instrument panel. Pull instrument panel top cover up enough to gain access to knee bolster screws. 3. Remove lower knee bolster screws and knee bolster. Remove screws from lower steering column shroud. Pull lower shroud clear of ignition cylinder. Hold tilt wheel lever down, and slide lower shroud forward to remove it from column. 4. Tilt wheel to full down position. Remove upper steering column shroud. Remove screws holding combination switch to lock housing. Place key in RUN position. Depress lock cylinder retaining tab and remove lock cylinder.
5. Disconnect ignition switch electrical connectors. Using a No. 10 Torx bit, remove ignition switch mounting screw. Pull ignition switch from steering column. See Fig. 8 .
Installation
Ensure ignition switch and actuator shaft are in RUN position. Carefully install ignition switch. Switch will snap over the retaining tabs. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
