SUMMARY

The article (Marples, 2022) proves whether dogs can smell when humans are
stressed, as the study suggests. According to a study published in the journal PLOS
ONE, dogs may be able to detect whether or not a person is calm or afraid. In
addition, the latest study by Clara Wilson eliminated other competing scents and
only measured participants' stress levels to increase the accuracy of the results. The
purpose of this study is to prove whether this dog is aware of when humans are
frightened. From the indication of increased human heart rate and blood pressure,
canines can perceive that humans are fearful through sweat and breathing. Wilson
also said that dogs have far more olfactory receptors than humans. This means dogs
can smell better than humans. Apart from this, Mark Freeman, based on the
research of Wilson, asserts that dogs' olfactory receptors are extremely effective at
distinguishing and identifying odors. Although he is not involved in the study, he
assumed that Wilson's research is difficult to conclude. In short, the results also
pave the way for further study to determine whether dogs can distinguish between
different experiences.
