Technical Manual | Casing Collar Locator (CCL) 4 Safety and Environmental Precautions
4.1 General
• The CCL includes high strength Alnico 5 magnets.
• Touching CCL end contacts while charging will result in electrical shock.
• The CCL Magnetizer creates a strong magnetic field - Check with area management before operating. People with pace makers and other medical
electronic devices or ferromagnetic metallic surgical implants must keep minimum 5 ft. away. Damage to watches, instruments & magnetic media possible.
Note Notes emphasize additional information that may be useful to the reader.
! Caution Caution messages give directions that, if not observed, could result in loss of
data or in damage to equipment.
! Warning Warnings alert users to a specific procedure or practice that, if not followed
correctly, could cause personal injury or be a safety hazard.
5 General Information
Note Some illustrations may look different but operate similarly unless otherwise indicated.
Note Refer to the Section 3, Drawings and Part lists while performing the steps of this procedure.
The numbers shown within brackets, e.g. (1), in this procedure are the item numbers corresponding to assembly drawing and part list.
Note Throughout this document, item numbers for fasteners and O-rings are comprised of alphanumeric characters [e.g., (F1) or (OR1)]. These item
numbers are located in Section 3 Drawings and Part Lists.
If shaded balloons are used, they simply help identify multi-level parts lists or parts within an indented bill of material.
Throughout this document, external links are identified with color hyperlink blue and internal links are in italics and underlined.
! Caution Inspect all O-rings used in this assembly for defects, such as cuts or abrasions, before they are installed. Discard and replace any defective O-rings.
! Caution Make sure that the O-ring grooves are clean before installing O-rings. Grease all O-rings and pin threads during the assembly process.

8.1.2 Pressing the receptacle inward, remove the two 6-32 x 1/8” screws (0257-000-036) from
the receptacle and the terminal lug. The terminal lug will remain connected to the coil.
Replace the old diode with a new one (3.1) 0257-500-150, then press the receptacle
inward to align the screw holes with the alignment slot and the terminal lug.
Replace and secure the screws using a dab of DC-RTV-3145*. The terminal lug should
be under the top screw. The wire should be tucked back into the slot.

Note The nut driver 0257-ND375 is customized to fit the upper contact rod.
8.2.3 Assemble parts as shown. Using the custom 3/8” nut driver
and large screwdriver, tighten the contact rod to the bottom
receptacle - hand tight.
8.2.4 Insert the new diode (3.1), then press the receptacle inward to
align the screw holes with the alignment slot and the terminal
lug. Replace and secure the screws using a dab of DC-
RTV-3145*. The terminal lug should be under the top screw.
The wire should be tucked back into the slot and Teflon tape
wrapped around the header.

! Caution Before connecting the panel to a source of AC power, make sure that the operating voltage is set for your area.
CCL Magnetizer Damage will likely result if the fuse position does not correctly match the operating voltage.
8.4 Charge the magnets using the CCL Magnetizer (9003-000-000). ! Warning Touching CCL end contacts while
charging will result in electrical shock.
8.4.1 The arrow between the switch and the power cable connector indicates the voltage setting. If the voltage setting
matches your power source, then proceed to step 8.4.2. If not (ensure the power cable is removed) then rotate
the fuse holder 180 degrees and reinsert it with the proper operating voltage adjacent to the arrow. An 1/8” flat
screwdriver may be used to carefully pry the fuse holder
from the connector body to rotate it as needed.
