Date: STUDY OF BLASTULA THROUGH PERMANENT SLIDE

AIM:
To study the blastula stage of embryonic development in mammals with the help of
a permanent slide.
MATERIALS REQUIRED:
Permanent slides of T.S . of Blastula, Compound microscope
PROCEDURE:
Observe the slides under microscope
OBSERVATIONS:
T.S. OF BLASTULA

1) It is a spherical mass of about sixty four cells composed of an outer envelope


of cells, the trophoplast (trophoectoderm) and inner cell mass.
2) Within the envelope there is a fluid filled cavity called blastocoel.
3) A cellular mass, adhered to the trophoblast is present on one end of the
blastula. It is called inner cell mass.
4) The inner mass cell is the precursor of the embryo.
5) The side of the blastocyst to which inner cell mass is attached is called the
embryonic or animal pole.
