ACP - Dataload

• Data load procedure is divided into two phases

– Phase 1 data load and Phase 2 data load:

• Phase 1 data load

– Transfers the Loadable Software Airplane Part (LSAP) to the forward (ACP) Mass Storage Area.
– These LSAPs are saved onto the forward ACPs memory until ready to be used for a Phase 2 data
load.
– Same part numbers will not be loaded (already loaded error message).

• Phase 2 data load transfers the LSAP into both the forward and aft
ACP and BSI interior lights.
– Note: This does not have the capability to load Operational software to the lights (discussed further in
Lighting section.

Visual indications from light

Timing for loss of communication mode
- Lights are defaulted to a Loss of Communication mode (default white color) on
power on without any recognizable signal present on the databus.

- All generations of lights are defaulted to 30 seconds to transition to loss of

communication mode (default white color).

- When Gen 2 or 3 lights receive a signal from the attendant panel during normal
mode, it receives a command to transition to transition to loss of communication
mode after 15 minutes without a signal

- When Gen 2 or 3 lights receive a signal from the attendant panel during
maintenance mode functions (lighting check, scene preview), it receives a
command to transition to transition to loss of communication mode after 70ms
without a signal to help with troubleshooting.

- Error messages during addressing
include:

- Does not respond

- Incorrect Light type
- Unexpected Light
In this example, addressing is successful for 1-1
through 1-7. This can be caused by an open in the

Phase 2 data load messages in Red during addressing example.

- Does not respond – The Attendant Control Panel cannot see the
response from the light. The cause can be a failed light, wiring or
corrupted data bus. Note: A databus can be corrupted if there is too
much loading on the databus reducing the signal being seen at the
attendant control panel. Overloading the bus can be caused by any light
or bad wiring on the databus! If a column is also short on lights on the
airplane message will also appear.

- Incorrect Light type – Addressing response can be seen by the

Attendant Control Panel, but the light type on the data bus does not
match what the attendant panel is expecting on the CDB. This can
indicate a miswire or an incorrect CDB software configuration that does
not match the airplane.

- Unexpected Light found – Means extra lights are on the databus that
was not configured on the CDB. This can indicate a miswire or an
incorrect CDB software configuration that does not match the airplane.
More to be shown on airplane demo!

General Lighting – Troubleshooting

connect 2-14 to 3-15

Dataload phase 2 has a lot of LRU ‘does not respond’ messages but passes token on/off tests. This is probably a
light that is causing this issue, how do I find out which one is causing the issue? This requires Using Jumper
Cables identified in the FIM with part number C33001.
Example: Column 2 has a bad light or a wiring loading the bus where the ACP cannot see a lighting
response during phase 2. The error messages of ‘does not respond’ shows up on column 2 during
addressing. To find out which light is bad, use a divide and conquer strategy. Borrow lights from working
column and see if the issue follows. In this example column 3 is working. Use the jumper cable to connect
light from column 2 to column 3. In this example, shows 2-14 output connected to 3-15. Once jumpered,
run a phase 2 data load again. If the error messages of ‘ does not respond’ still shows up on column 2, the
problem did not follow and the problem is still within the column 2 addresses 1 through 14.

BSI ACP/General Lighting Training
General Lighting – Troubleshooting (cont)

connect 3-14 to 2-15

Example (continued): Wire things back to normal and then connect 3-14 to 2-15 with the jumper cable and
run a phase 2 data load. If the error messages of ‘ does not respond’ still does not show up on column 3
then there are no issues with the addresses 2-15 and on for column 2. If ‘does not respond’ messages
show up on column 3, then there is likely an issue with column 2 lights. Note: In this configuration the
incorrect light type messages are ok since it is expected.
