THE BLACK CAIMAN

HABITAT: It lives in lakes, slow-moving rivers, and other freshwater habitats in South America,
primarily in the Amazon basin.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: The black caiman. It has a maximum length of about 5 to 6 m (16 to 20 ft)
and a mass of more than 450 kg (1,000 lb),[6] it has a dark greenish-black or jet-black coloration. It
has gray to brown bands on the lower jaw; . The bands on young animals help with camouflage.
The head is large, they are long and stocky, with large jaws, long tails and short legs. They have
thick, scaly skin and their eyes and noses are located on the top of their heads. This allows them to
see and breathe while the rest of their bodies are underwater.

Breeding: At the end of the dry season, females build a nest of soil and vegetation, which is about
1.5 m They lay up between 30 and 60eggs, which they hatch in about six weeks, at the beginning
of the wet season, The eggs are quite large, averaging 144 g

Feeding; eating smaller species, such as the spectacled caiman and sometimes cannibalizing
smaller individuals of their own kind. Hatchlings mostly eat small fish, frogs, and invertebrates
such as molluscs, crustaceans, arachnids, and insects

ANACONDA:

HABITAT: The anaconda is endemic to South America; It inhabits the Orinoco and Amazon River
Basins.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: It is the largest snake in America and can exceed 8 meters in length and
weigh more than 200 kg. Females are larger than males, dark green, with oval black and ocher
markings on the flanks. The belly is lighter, and at the end of the tail it shows yellow and black
designs that are unique to each specimen. The snout is covered by six thickened scales, three on
each side. The head is narrow, and does not have a very marked neck. The nostrils and eyes are in
an elevated position

Feeding: The anaconda is capable of consuming large prey such as; capybara tapir red deer

White alligator, other mammals, birds, turtles and other small reptiles.

Breeding: Anaconda mating occurs between the months of April and May, it is ovoviviparous,
which means that the eggs remain inside the female's body until they hatch. Gestation lasts 6
months inside the female. The litter size of the anaconda, in general, ranges between 20 and 40
young. Newborns are about 70-80 cm long.

BLUE MORPHO BUTTERFLY:

HABIATAT: live in the tropical forests of Latin America from Mexico to Colombia

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: The adult have black bodies and bright, iridescent blue wings, with the
underside of the wings being cryptic brown. The margins of the wings have a black border, which
is larger in females than in males. This black border has five or six white spots in the center,
beginning at the apex of the forewing and extending downward .The average wingspan of an adult
male Morpho peleides is 8.5±1.4 cm

Feeding: are frugivores, or fruit feeders, and often feed on decaying fruits.

Breeding: Males utilize two different mating strategies: patrolling or perching. Patrolling
butterflies search for mates and perching butterflies stay at a specific cite and wait for passing
females Morpho courtship follows the perching strategy and occurs near feeding sites.
