▪ The cost of renting an apartment depends on the city and

the area:

✓ One-bedroom apartment in Sofia: 300-500 EUR

✓ Two-bedroom apartment in Sofia: 400-600 EUR

✓ Winter utility services: 100-250 EUR

✓ Summer utility services: 100-150 EUR

▪ State kindergartens: 35-50 EUR/per month
▪ Private kindergartens: 150-300 EUR/per month

▪ State school: 170-300 EUR/per year

▪ Private school: 2000 EUR/per year

! In Bulgaria, school students can receive a

scholarship if they have good grades.
After your arrival in Bulgaria, you will need a new local bank account, which is mandatory if you want to receive
a permanent residence permit. To open an account in any bank, you will need to personally go to any of its
branches/local offices. There are no restrictions for locals or foreigners when it comes to the type of the account or the
currency, you’d wish to open it in.

The required documents for physical persons are as follows:

✓ a copy of your ID card (if the person is Bulgarian or from a member country of the European Union),
✓ or any other identification document (if the person is a citizen of a country outside of EU).
It usually takes a week or so to get a bank card, which should be collected from the bank in person.

Well-known banks that are typically recommended: UniCredit Bulbank, Raiffeisen, DSK, Postbank.​

Normal bank working hours are from 8:00 till 17:30, but many​ of them have branch offices with prolonged working
hours (until 19:30- 20:00) or offices that even work over the weekend.

▪ There is a clear and fast legalization process compared to other EU

countries in Bulgaria. It’s easy to switch from Short Term to Mid & Long-
Term Relocation
▪ Upon relocation to Bulgaria, you will need to have your contract
with Ukrainian SoftServe entity terminated AND sign an
employment contract with the Bulgarian SoftServe entity
▪ People, who plan to stay and work in the country after the government
drops the issuance of temporary protection cards, will need to apply for
an EU blue card (residence permit)
▪ Ukrainian citizens have the right to stay in Bulgaria with only a passport
for 90 days without a temporary protection card – with this option
they don’t have the right to work in BG
▪ People who have temporary protection card have the right to work in
BG
▪ Hiring documents: Passport, TPS, Tax office registration, Notarized TPS

▪ Employment contract with a probation period of 6 months

▪ Notice period after probation - 3 months for both sides
▪ Overtime:
✓ Max 6h weekly
✓ 30h monthly
✓ 150h annually
▪ Sick leave:
✓ first 3 days of sickness are paid by employer on 70% and the rest are paid by the government on 80%
✓ for fully paid sick leave employee needs to have 6 months of work experience in Bulgaria, if they don’t have
such, they get paid only first 3 days from sick leave
