DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT
On 06/26/2024 at 2253 hours:
I spoke with Detective (Det.) Steven Bacon with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office (MCSO). He reported the death of
Mohammad [later updated to: Mohamad] Hassan (Middle Eastern/male, DOB: 04/18/2007, ~180 pounds, unknown residence
address) at Milwaukee County Bender Park Beach located at 4503 East Ryan Road, Oak Creek, Wisconsin 53154. Det. Bacon
stated the following:
The decedent was swimming with his family at Bender Park Beach when he and two other individuals were caught in the riptide.
One of the individuals was okay, the other one was in critical condition with a possible spinal injury at St. Luke's South Shore, and
the decedent was pulseless not breathing on scene. The decedent's father, Musaifis Hassan [later updated to Musaitif], witnessed all
three victims being taken underwater by the strong currents. They were swimming approximately 30 yards out from shore in
"somewhat shallow" water. It was unknown if the individuals could swim.
The decedent was pulled out of the water by Milwaukee Fire Department's (MFD) water rescue boat. He was worked on by Oak
Creek Fire Department (OCFD) - Med Unit 181. Paramedic based doctor #0175, Dr. Bradley Maertz, pronounced time of death at
2207 hours.
Medical history was unknown at this point. It was unknown if there were any substances involved at this time. There was a
noticeable open injury to the decedent's head. The MCSO case number was 24-119065. -LDoome
OCFD arrived back on scene at 2150 hours standing by, waiting for Mohamad to be found. At approximately 2200 hours, the
decedent was pulled from the water onto the rocks by MFD. They disclosed the decedent was in the water for approximately two
hours. MFD initiated CPR on the rocks, however, OCFD asked MFD to bring the decedent off the rocks onto a stable ground. CPR
with the LUCAS device and a bag valve mask was used for rescusitation, however, rescusitation ceased due to the asystole cardiac
rhythm.
Death was pronounced at 2207 hours by paramedic based doctor #0175, Dr. Bradley Maertz. -LDoome
