DHA from 2016 to 2018. American Board certified in Internal Medicine,
Pulmonology, and Allergy and Clinical Immunology, also has a
master's in business administration from Wolverhampton University.
Prof. Bassam has authored several books in respiratory medicine and
co-editor for several medical journals. Dr. Bassam has received various
recognitions for his role as physician, innovative leader, and researcher
from DHA.

President of the Emirates Thoracic Society (ETS)
Professor Ashraf Alzaabi is the Medical director at Zayed Military
Hospital in Abu Dhabi, and the President of the Emirates Thoracic
Society. He graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland
1997 and did his training in Internal medicine and Respirology for six
years at the University of Toronto, Canada 2000-2006 where he was
board certified in both specialties in Canada and USA. In 2007, he was
appointed as a Clinical Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine at the
College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS) at UAE University and
was promoted to a full professor on October 21, 2018. He is an editor at
the "CHEST" journal , middle east edition. He published the first UAE
prevalence study on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at the
Respiratory Medicine Journal in 2011. His main interest in research
includes Asthma, COPD and Sleep Medicine.
