CHANNEL

1910-1912
OPENING OF CHANEL MODES
The Chanel brand is one of the most significant and prestigious names in the fashion and luxury industry. It
was founded in 1910 by Gabrielle Bonheur "Coco" Chanel, a french fashion designer who opened a hat
boutique at 21 rue Cambon under the name Chanel Modes. Her hats were worn by well-known French
actresses of the era, and helped her build her reputation becoming an icon of global haute couture, thanks
to her vision to create fashion that would be simple, elegant, and comfortable, which was revolutionary at
the time.
Later, in 1913, she opened her first boutique in Deauville where she began to sell a line of sportswear made
of jersey, a material that was previously used to make men’s underwear. This approach revolutionized
fashion and women's relationships with their bodies, it was an instant success. And because of this, in
1915, she founded her first couture house where she designs the first Haute Couture collection.

Fashion Revolution:
Coco Chanel had a profound impact on 20th-century fashion. Her most beloved designs include the little
black dress, which became a symbol of elegance, popularized handbags with chain strapchain, a functional
bag equipped with a soft sliding chain allowed one’s hands to be free, and also, the knitted sweaters, and
the Chanel No. 5 perfume (1921), which is still one of the best-selling perfumes in the world and became a
symbol of luxury and elegance; It was so successful that Marilyn Monroe declared her love for this perfume,
saying that she used to wear it when she was going to sleep. This helped Channel increase her popularity
and the fashion house became one of the most prominent in Paris.

Chanel's Legacy:
After Coco Chanel's death in 1971, Karl Lagerfeld took over the brand, keeping it at the forefront of the
fashion world and making it alive again. The designer used a large vocabulary of Chanelisms including the
tweed suit, the lbd, quilting, the camellia, golden chains (used to weigh down jackets, and for belts and bag
chains), the number five, etc. Including the image of Chanel herself, also, created the double-C logo that
became recognizable everywhere.

CO-FRIENDLYE
CHANEL NET-ZERO 2040
As an independent house of luxury, Chanel is committed to play a role in restoring nature and climate,
supporting not just the longevity of their House, but also our planet and the people who depend on it.

In 2024, they have set the goal to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across our value chain by
2040, commiting to the target of reducing 90% of their emissions.

Tough this may soundinteresting, Channel doesn't asegurate this plan would work, and we found no
evidence it has taken any meaningful action like reducing or eliminating chemicals, implements water
reduction or stops using leather and wool, as well as exotic animal hair and silk.

AFFORDABLE
Channel it is not affordable mostly because their prices are very high going from a simple lipstick costing
$50 dollars from a new fashion dress wich costs $10.250 dollars

PERSONAL OPINION
We like Channel and their aesthetic that go with their products but i don’t recomend it because it’s
expensive and note affordable, obviously Is a very prestigious brand who has high prices but i think they
have already reached a very exaggerated point.
