GRATITUDE

At the start of my interview with Roma, she appeared
very shy and hesitant. But after hearing her story, it
completely changed my perspective on how an act of
kindness could transform a person's life even if the
situation already looks difficult.
RECOLLECTION
This was the strong opening remarks of Roma, “I want to
know more about One Commerce. I want to know why my
father was so loyal and stayed with this company until his
very last day...”
Roma's father, Mr. Rodolfo B. Segovia or "Manong
Ompong" to some, started his journey with Onecomm
when he worked for our CEO, AUN, as Division
messenger when she was still leading a division in a
bank. When she availed of early retirement and decided
to build her own company, Manong Ompong intimated
with AUN if he can be hired to do messengerial and
janitorial work, even at lower start-up salary, in this new
Company. AUN was initially hesitant to hire him because
of the risks involved in working with a start-up company
compared to his already stable job in the bank. The rest
is history as the company is now in the business for 23
strong years, with Manong Ompong as one of the
pioneers. He eventually became the company’s Liaison
Officer. He was described as loyal, hard-working,
determined, and a prayerful person. He was loyal up to
the very end.

When Manong Ompong died in March 2010, people
from One Commerce did not know it right away. It was
only when Roma's mother saw copies of various
employment documents that Manong Ompong safely
kept, including his I.D of Onecommerce where the office
contact number was reflected, that the Company was
informed of his death.

On behalf of the OneComm Newsletter Team, I would
like to extend heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to
everyone for their strong support for the OneComm
Newsletter's first issue.
This newsletter started with the simple intention of
engaging our employees. After the maiden issue was
released, we were so overwhelmed and driven to
provide more contents that will encourage our
employees and establish a great culture. This initiative

ARTISTIC CORNER
GET TO KNOW EJ

For this month’s Artistic Corner, we will be featuring our
employee who knows how to play not only the saxophone
(Alto, Soprano & Tenor), but also flute, guitar, percussion
and other musical instruments. This guy is really talented,
am I right? I am talking about Mr. Earvin John E. Fabro,
Technical Support Engineer from RMS, Power & Facilities.
EJ started playing musical instruments when he was in grade
school as some schools offer free music lessons every
summer vacation. He first learned how to read notes then
how to play percussion. Then he learned the trumpet, the
flute, and the rest is history.
“Tumutugtog ako sa community namin sa Sta. Maria Bulacan (EJ

nagtuturo rin ako sa mga new recruits. Bilang mentor ka, dapat
alam mo lahat ng basic.” EJ did not have hesitations in sharing
his knowledge and skills in playing musical instruments to
children. “Since 2010 nagtuturo na ako, so about 10 years na
akong nagtuturo, minus the pandemic.”
This got me thinking, that since we are in a pandemic, how
will he manage to enhance his skills. “Since nagpandemic,
hindi muna ako nakakapagturo, dahil usually naman bata ang
tinuturuan ko. Para lang maenhance yung skills ko, nagpopost
ako ng covers sa Youtube. Every weekend nakakapagpost ako ng
saxophone covers.”
EJ created his Youtube channel and gained more than 1,000
followers. But not only that, he was also contacted by the
representatives from the crazed social media application,
TikTok, to be one of their Educational Mentors – post-
TikTok videos educating viewers about music. His account
has already gained more than 90k followers.
BYTE - SIZED COMMVERSATIONS
For everyone’s information, EJ composed the music intro
for our podcast in Spotify “Byte-sized Commversations”. He
said that he is honored to do it for the OneCommunity.
PILOT OF ONE COMM UNIVERSITY
The program aims to reach wider connections with schools
and organizations, introduce One Commerce to future
Engineers, attract fresh graduates to apply in our job
openings, and enhance the presentation skills of our
employees as well as build their self-esteem and confidence.
