The Jinju Lantern Festival

Is a significant cultural event in South Korea held annually in the month of October.

This festival has its roots in history and tradition, and is organized to commemorate
the fallen during the Battle of Jinjuseong in 1592..

During the Japanese invasion, the people of Jinju used lanterns to communicate and
protect the Jinjuseong fortress. Today, the festival has evolved into a
commemoration that combines entertainment and respect for history.

The main attractions of the festival include:

Lantern Exhibits: Visitors can admire thousands of handmade lanterns floating along
the Namgang River, each with its own design and meaning.

Lantern Tunnel of Wishes: A pathway illuminated by more than 30,000 red lanterns
where visitors can walk and feel the magical atmosphere of the festival.

Workshops and Exhibits: Attendees have the opportunity to create their own lanterns
and learn more about this ancient Korean tradition.

Wishing Ritual: Following the custom, participants can write wishes on lanterns and
let them float on the river, symbolizing hope and dreams for the future.
