VENTILATION IN INTERIOR SPACE

INTRODUCTION
The ventilation of buildings is used to maintain indoor air quality and thermal comfort. The purpose of
ventilation is to eliminate airborne contaminants, which are generated both by human activity and by the
building itself. Most mechanical ventilation systems are designed to fulfil this condition. The adaptive comfort
model only provides design rules for better comfort in naturally ventilated buildings, but also allows substantial
energy savings, especially in summer. In this example, the hygienic ventilation during daytime is provided by a
mechanical system; but the intensive night cooling to control thermal comfort is provided by natural ventilation.
The role of ventilation is mainly to dilute and evacuate the contaminants produced indoors. The ventilation rate
increases with the contaminant source intensity and decreases with the acceptable contaminant concentration.
In well-designed buildings, during the heating season the occupants are the main source of contaminants.

NAME : ABHISHEK LANDE
SUB : DESSERTATION
BRANCH : M-DES 239869630003
AIM
• To understand the ventilation in interior space.
• To provide the best ventilation and to study the different types of ventilation in interior.
• To Understand that which types of ventilation is suitable for that space.

OBJECTIVE
In architecture, ventilation is bringing in outdoor air and distributing it into a space. It is mostly known in three different types:
mechanical, natural, and mixed-mode. Managing the air exchange and circulation with the outdoors is crucial for a
comfortable atmosphere. Whether this is done by mechanical or natural means, stable air currents release humidity and
provide an infiltrated air flow, providing healthy air for breathing. A successful ventilation system must be aligned with the
project's context, which includes the geographical location, the material it is built in, its architecture, and the habits of users
occupying the space.

THE IMPORTANCE OF GOOD VENTILATION

Ventilation helps your home rid itself of moisture, smoke, cooking odors, and indoor pollutants. Structural ventilation controls
heat levels in the attic, moderates' dampness in the crawlspace and basement, and keeps moisture out of uninsulated walls. It
is also good to have an airflow that is uninterrupted, as anything blocking the air flow in your home can cause damage to both
your home and your health. One of the reasons ventilation is so important is because it controls how much moisture is
lingering in your home.
Without a ventilation system in place, you have no control of the air flow in a building.

SCOPE
The main objective of the report is to give a clearer idea of how to use proper ventilation in interior.
Considering to the climate of the different cities and direction of the building.
This report gives ideas and concepts to make home comfortable .
LIMITATION
Looking at the promising prior research paper related to ventilation in interior space.
The study limits it as case study.

RESEARCH QUESTION
• What is the expected impact of climate change on Ventilation use in non-domestic buildings?
• What can Ventilation do and how are people doing it?
