RELATED LITERATURE

IPIL IPIL
Leucaena leucocephala more commonly known as ipil ipil has been proved as an
effective alternative fertilizer Ipil-ipil (Leucaena leucocephala) leaves are high in
protein and nitrogen, suggesting they could be used as an alternative fertilizer
According to studies, mulched ipil-ipil leaves can provide a great source of soil
nutrients which makes it effective as a fertilizer. (Castilla Delfa G. , Embalzado
Hannah Mae P. , Morre James, Salcedo Angelyn S. et.al, International Research
Journal of Modernization in Engineering Technology and Science, 2022) Leaves are
high in protein and can be used as feed supplement (Castilla,2022).

PECHAY
Pechay is used mainly for its immature, but fully expanded tender leaves. The
succulent petioles are often the preferred part. It is used as main ingredient for soup
and stir-fried dishes. In Chinese cuisine, its green petioles and leaves are also used
as garnish. (Brassica rapa) also called pechay Baguio in the Philippines, a form of
Chinese cabbage is cultivated for its edible leaves. Napa cabbage is widely grown in
eastern Asia and is commonly used to make kimchi, a traditional Korean dish made
of spicy fermented vegetables. (2017) Brassica rapa commonly called as Pechay
and is popularly known as vegetable in Manila, Philippines. Pechay is a leafy,
shallow-rooted, cool-season crop but can stand higher temperatures given it is
exposed to enough moisture based also in an article pechay is one of the most
commonly used herb as tester, dependent variable, and one of the most consumed
because of it’s ability to grow fast.
