Lately, the world has been facing many problems.

Despite visible effects of climate change,

the main problem right now revolves around who’s to blame. While governments officials state that
the public should switch their lifestyles accordingly, others believe that the authorities should
implement ecological reforms. In my opinion, officials should take on the responsibility of tackling
climate change.

First of all, the government is responsible for the resource used for energy. Most power
stations are based around carbon, which is one of the most non-ecological substance to use. Burning
down coal proves efficient when it comes to acquiring electric energy, but as a result it produces
greenhouse gasses which support climate change. Citizens do not have any power over this, thus
only the authorities can switch energy sources to more eco-friendly.

Secondly, the government has the power to enforce ecological regime. Without
implementing new laws and raising climate awareness, the way the public acts won’t change. It is
the responsibility of government officials to control the number of resources used by their citizens.
They can create new restrictions that lower the usage of non-ecological resources, as well as
implement places where such substances can be safely decomposed. In this way, even the most
stubborn person will be forced to be more eco-friendly.

In conclusion, because of the powers the authorities hold, it is their responsibility to combat
climate change. Having control over how their citizens act should be used for protecting the
environment, especially now when the situation is dire. Blaming the reason on the public is a way of
avoiding responsibility and costs for the government officials.
