LESSON PLAN

Form: 2nd grade
Level: Beginners;
Subject: Forest Animals;
Lesson Type: mixed lesson;
Materials: Xerox copies, blackboard, chalk, flashcards with forest animals, laptop;
Skills: Reading, Speaking, Listening, Writing;
Methods: prediction, answering questions method, brainstorming;
Interactions: Teacher-Class, Teacher-Students, Student-Class;

Objectives: at the end of the hour students will be able to:


- O1- to match the objects with the pictures (1.2);
- O2- to pronounce the new words correctly (1.1);
- O3- to make up sentences and using the acquired vocabulary and language (1.1);
- O4- to solve the exercises correctly (4.1);
Specific competences:

- 1.1 Offering an adequate reaction to a clearly and very rarely uttered question in
an everyday situation;
- 2.4 Asking for and offering some short and simple information about the location
of the objects in the immediate surroundings;
- 3.1. Manifesting curiosity in decoding simple and short written messages from the
surrounding environment.
Anticipating problems:
- Students will encounter difficulties in finding the meaning of the new words;
- Students will encounter difficulties in the pronunciation of the new words;
Stages:

1) Warm Up: 5 minutes;
- Teacher greets the Students and presents the guest;
- Students greet the Teachers;
- Teacher asks the pupil on duty to tell the absent students;
- Teacher assures a proper class atmosphere;
- Teacher checks the previous lesson and the way the Students have acquired the previous
knowledge;
- Teacher checks the homework;
- Students correct the mistakes / errors from their homework;

2) Speaking activity: 5 minutes;


- Prediction using the pictures => Teacher asks the Students to look on the flashcards and
try to predict the subject of the new lesson;
- Teacher writes down the title of the new lesson on the blackboard;

3) Reading activity: 5 minutes;


- Teacher reads the names of several animals from the forest aloud in order to give the
Students a model of reading (Teacher- Class interactions);
- Teacher names some Students to read the objects;
4) Listening activity: 5 minutes;
-Teacher puts a song containing different animals from the forest;

5) After reading activity – writing activity: 20 minutes;
- Teacher asks the Students to try to guess the meaning of the new words from the
flashcards;
- Teacher writes down the meaning of the new words;
- Students write down in their notebooks the new words;
- Teacher gives Xerox copies with some exercises with the new words;
- Teacher gives clear instructions regarding the exercises;
- Students solve the exercises;
5) Follow Up- feed back: 5 minutes;

- Teacher makes a short revision of the lesson;
- Teacher praises the Students that participated at the lesson and grades them;
- Teacher writes down the homework on the blackboard:
to draw three animals from the forest and to write down their names in English;
- Teacher gives information and clear instructions regarding the homework.
