Exercise 1

At the end of the exercise, the students should be able to:

 Conduct an interview.
 Identify interview structure used.

Perform the following instructions:

1. Schedule an interview with your school personnel responsible for your school’s registration
system. Prepare an interview agenda aimed at learning about the process of a student’s
enrolling for a course. Write a transcript of interview to be submitted to your instructor.

2. Study the interview structure presented in the sequencing of the questions below:
a. How long have you been in this position?
b. What are your key responsibilities?
c. What reports do you receive?
d. How do you view the goals of your department?
e. How would you describe your decision-making process?
f. How can that process best be supported?
g. How frequently do you make those decisions?
h. Who is consulted when you make a decision?
i. What is the one decision you make that is essential to departmental functioning?

From the list of questions given, answer the following:

 What structure is being used? How can you tell?


 Restructure the interview by changing the sequence of the questions (you may omit
some, if necessary). Put a label on the reordered questions with the name of the structure
you have used.
