Foreskin and penis head inflammation, redness, and itching are other
symptoms.
Additionally, wearing loose-fitting underwear helps to keep the area dry and
reduce irritation from sweat or friction from tight clothing.Avoiding sexual activity
or using a condom when engaging in intercourse also helps to reduce chances of
contracting sexually-transmitted infections which can lead to balanoposthitis.
Physical examination: During physical examination, the doctor will look for
signs of inflammation and redness on the head of the penis. They may also
check for any discharge or ulcers present on the penis.
Laboratory tests: Blood tests may be used to check for sexually transmitted
infections or other types of infections that could be causing balanoposthitis.
Urine tests: There is also the possibility of carrying out urine tests in order to
eliminate urinary tract infections from the list of potential causes of
balanoposthitis.
Other complications may include skin irritation, pain during urination or sexual
intercourse, scarring, swelling, and in some cases even penile amputation.
Soak a piece of cotton cloth in cold water and place it on the affected area for
10-15 minutes twice a day to reduce swelling and itching.
Make a paste of honey, gooseberry juice and ginger powder and apply it directly
on the affected part to reduce inflammation and infection.
Boil some neem leaves in water, strain the solution, cool it down and use it as
an antiseptic wash for cleaning the affected area once or twice daily.
Additionally, it is important to choose foods that are low in saturated fats and
added sugars.A healthy diet should consist of a variety of foods, including lean
meats, fish, eggs, nuts, seeds, beans, and legumes.
These foods can promote inflammation and worsen symptoms of this condition.
Balanoposthitis Treatment
There are several surgical treatments for balanoposthitis, including circumcision,
preputioplasty, and frenuloplasty.
Urologists have extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses that
affect the urinary system and male reproductive organs, making them ideal
candidates to examine patients suffering from balanoposthitis.
Nevertheless, if the root reason isn't treated, the symptoms may keep coming
back or even turn into a chronic condition. It is essential to stick to any therapies
that have been recommended, as well as follow the advice of a medical
professional.
Careful hygiene: Cleaning the infected area with warm water and mild soap is
important to reduce inflammation and promote healing. The patient should avoid
harsh soaps or anything that may irritate the area further.
Other rare but possible side effects may include swelling, tenderness, pain or
discomfort in the genital area.
