newspaper of the Propaganda Movement

1. Rizal penned the essay with a purpose; firstly, to shed light on the suffering and mistreatment
endured by Filipinos under colonial rule and secondly to advocate for meaningful changes that
would bring about reforms, in the Philippines.

2. The primary focus of Rizal’s essay revolves around emphasizing the pressing necessity of social
transformations, in the Philippines. These changes are imperative to address the challenges and
injustices that have arisen because of colonial domination.

3. When referring to "The Philippines within a century " Rizal envisions what could potentially
transpire in his homeland over a hundred-year span if it were to implement the reforms and
advancements he passionately advocated for in his essay.
