2. Be respectful of all coaches, officials, event staff and other athletes.
3. All athletes are expected to remain for prize giving and present themselves with UCheer
attire (uniform or UCheer/Competition merch). As prizegiving involves alot of photos so
prepare to look presentable.
4. Nails must be cut short like netball nails for competition (no nail polish). No jewellery of
any kind may be worn. Teams can be issued with point deductions if they do not comply
with these rules.
5. No alcohol at the competition venue unless there is a license bar operating at the venue.
This includes alcohol put into other vessels e.g. takeaway coffee cups.

BE A TEAM PLAYER
When we travel and attend competitions we are there to work hard and represent our
gym, make your decisions in light of this. Support you and your team to be the healthiest
and most positive and spirited for the day. Get an early night before comp, make sure
your team is up and ready to go, make sure everyone has eaten and is hydrated, help
each-other get ready, and hype up your teammates. Its normal to feel scared and
nervous on the day, surrounding yourself with your team and hyping each-other up with
positivity is the best way to battle this.
UCHEER VALUES

SPORTSMANSHIP
Model great sportsmanship at all times. Cheering super loud for every other team
especially during awards. Wishing people good luck and supporting EVERYONE who
competes, all the other teams and athletes have been working as hard as us so make
them feel special! Just overall be positive and supportive at all times ESPECIALLY if
something goes wrong.

BEING A ROLE MODEL

These competitions include athletes from all ages, and especially include young children
and teens. Be respectful around all other teams and especially the young children, they
will look up to a lot of you and you need to set a good example. So please avoid swearing,
inappropriate discussions or actions, especially negative discussions at the venue
regarding other teams or athletes (which shouldn't happen anyway).

REPRESENTING CANTERBURY
Set a good example of how amazing we are in Ōutatahi Christchurch! We
are representing not only our club but the University of Canterbury, so keep
this in mind when we are at competitions.
