Leonardo da Vinci primarily lived in Italy during the Renaissance.

He was born in
Vinci, a town in the region of Tuscany, in 1452. Leonardo was a prominent artist
of the Italian Renaissance, but he was also an extraordinarily versatile researcher
and thinker in a wide range of disciplines. His intellectual scope ranged from
anatomy and engineering to botany and architecture. The main working areas
of Leonardo da Vinci were in Italy, specifically in the cities of Florence, Milan,
and Rome. These cities were important cultural and artistic centers during the
Renaissance.

Leonardo was welcomed by several patrons, but the most prominent was
Ludovico Sforza, who was the Duke of Milan when Leonardo moved there in
1482. It was there that one of his main works, "The Last Supper," was completed.

Apart from being a painter, Leonardo also had other interests and skills that
spanned a wide variety of areas such as anatomy, botany, geology, and physics,
engineering, design, philosophy, and music.

During his travels to Paris, Milan, and Florence, Leonardo exhibited several of his
works in these three places mainly, and to this day, his works remain in those
museums such as the Louvre in Paris, the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, the
Pinacoteca Ambrosiana in Milan, and the National Museum of Science and
Technology Leonardo da Vinci in Milan.
