TO CARRY OUT DEGREE STUDIES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SALAMANCA AIMED AT LATIN AMERICAN STUDENTS

The mobility of Latin American students is a desirable component in their university education and a
means to improve the quality of teaching and, therefore, a generator of benefits for both students and
higher education institutions. At the same time, it is an element capable of contributing to integration
and greater cohesion with Latin American countries by promoting cultural and linguistic contact.

International mobility favors the attraction of talent to university classrooms and is included among
the objectives of the Studii Salamantini Campus of International Excellence of the University of Salamanca, an
institution that, with the sponsorship of Banco Santander, offers up to 42 scholarships to carry out
Degree Studies at the University of Salamanca during the next academic year 2021/2022 , aimed at Latin
American students.

Scholarships for undergraduate studies

42 Scholarships for students with nationality in one of the following countries: Argentina , Bolivia
, Brazil , Colombia, Costa Rica , Cuba, Chile, Ecuador , El Salvador , Guatemala , Haiti , Honduras ,
Mexico , Nicaragua , Panama , Paraguay , Peru , Puerto Rico , Dominican Republic , Uruguay and Venezuela.

Requirements

- Possess nationality in one of the aforementioned countries.

- New award: Be in legal conditions * to access the University of Salamanca in the month of July
2021, in accordance with the regulations that regulate the selection procedures for entry into
university centers for students who meet the requirements legal requirements for access to the
university and carry out the corresponding pre-registration process within the established period
for this purpose.
The offer of USAL Degree studies, as well as the access requirements for them, can be consulted on
the website http://www.usal.es/grados
- Renewal: If the applicant has enjoyed this type of scholarship during the 2020/2021 academic year,
they must have approved 75% of the subjects or credits enrolled in the aforementioned course. This
requirement will be verified by an academic certification of the studies carried out, which will
be requested from the Centers by the USAL International Relations Service.

Formalization of applications and deadline

Those who wish to participate in this call must submit an application addressed to the Vice-Rector for
International Relations, through the University of Salamanca website, before 2:00 p.m. (Spanish time) on
June 25, 2021 .

The application form is available to interested parties on the website of the International Relations
Service of the University of Salamanca: http://rel-int.usal.es/

All documentation, which must be submitted in Spanish , will be sent, along with the application form, to
the email address: bintgrado@usal.es . The documentation must be submitted in PDF format and in a single
email sending .

The University of Salamanca will not confirm in any case the receipt of documents sent.

Documentation

- Duly completed application form.

- Photocopy of passport, identity card, family book, DNI or equivalent.
- Photocopy of the pre-registration receipt corresponding to the 2021/2022 academic year at the
University of Salamanca.
- Photocopy of the academic certifications of the studies carried out, with mandatory express mention
of the average grade achieved.
- Photocopy of the University Entrance Test Certificate or the relevant accreditation. The access
requirements can be consulted on the website: https://www.usal.es/estudiantes-proccedentes-de-
sistemas-educativos-extranjeros-0
- Curriculum vitae.
- B2 level accreditation in Spanish, in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for
languages, for those who do not have Spanish as their native language.
- In the case of students with dual nationality (Spanish and any other of the countries to which the
call is intended), who reside in Spain, this circumstance must be documented, and their economic and
family situation in this country must be justified.

- Applicants who have enjoyed a scholarship within the International Scholarship Program in the
2020/2021 academic year and opt for renewal must only provide the duly completed application form.

Endowment and period of enjoyment

The scholarships will be valid during the 2021/2022 Academic Year (from October 1, 2021 to July 31,
2022).
The scholarship award includes:

- Tuition exemption .

- Accommodation and food in USAL university residences, in a double room, from October 1, 2021 to July
31, 2022. From this date no extension will be granted.

The waiver of accommodation and/or maintenance will not entail the right to receive any compensation,
unless the scholarship recipient is studying at the USAL Campuses in Ávila, Béjar or Zamora.

During the Christmas and Easter vacation periods, the residences of the University of Salamanca will
remain closed, so the expenses corresponding to accommodation and maintenance during these periods
will have to be assumed by each scholarship recipient. The management of these periods will be the

exclusive responsibility of each scholarship recipient.

- Medical insurance to cover expenses resulting from illness or accident, accident and civil liability
insurance (from September 1, 2021 to August 31, 2022).

- Only the concepts expressly indicated in this Call will be paid out of the scholarship awarded.

Important considerations
Candidates must take into account that there are two different and not common procedures when applying
for a scholarship within the framework of this Call:
1. Procedures required to be admitted to the University of Salamanca
2. Scholarship Award

Consequently, the granting of a scholarship does not entail automatic admission to any official USAL degree , so each
beneficiary is responsible, on an individual basis, for carrying out all the necessary procedures to
request admission within the formally established deadlines. , prove any relevant issues and register for the degree for
which you are definitively admitted.

Applicants must evaluate their move to Spain, ensuring their definitive admission to a USAL degree.

The University of Salamanca will grant a scholarship that will become effective and will be enjoyed once
those selected have been officially enrolled in a specific official degree.

It should be taken into account that the University of Salamanca offers degrees with a limit on places.
Consequently, several degrees must be requested to avoid admission difficulties in those that have a
limit.

The scholarship will take effect only when the applicants have been admitted to a degree and have
registered for it.

Criteria and Selection Commission

The selection of scholarship recipients will be carried out by a Commission appointed for this purpose,
which will submit its proposal to the Vice-Rector's Office for International Relations.

The Selection Commission will evaluate the applications based on the documentation presented, with
emphasis on the academic record of the applicant and the results obtained in the University Access Tests.

Obligations of scholarship recipients

Scholarship holders must:

■ Enroll in a minimum of 60 ECTS credits each course, or a full year of the corresponding degree at
USAL.
■ Provide the International Relations Service with a photocopy of the registration made at the Secretary
of the corresponding Center.
■ Have an account at Banco Santander.
■ Communicate in writing to the International Relations Service the resignation of the scholarship, as
well as any substantial modification that affects its conditions.
■ Accept in writing, according to the model, the granting of the scholarship, the rules and conditions
of the call, as well as the criteria established by the University of Salamanca, within a period of
fifteen days from the notification of the same, which will be sent to the email address you indicate in
the request.
■ Join the University of Salamanca before the first day of the course of the degree to which the
scholarship recipient has been admitted.
■ Residing continuously in the environment of the University of Salamanca during the duration of the
academic year, requesting permission from the person responsible for the Center where you are studying,
provided that you are going to make an exit lasting more than two weeks and less than one month, with a
copy to the USAL International Relations Service. In no case may the beneficiary of the scholarship be
outside of Ávila, Béjar, Salamanca or Zamora for more than one month.

■ Pay the administrative fees for opening the file and School Insurance at the time of formalizing
registration. The issuance of certificates or administrative procedures of any kind will not be paid
from the scholarship endowment.
■ The scholarship recipients selected in this call, to be eligible for renewal in the 2022/2023 academic
year, must have passed at least 75% of the credits enrolled during the 2021/2022 academic year.
■ Attend the Scholarship award ceremony organized by the University of Salamanca and Banco Santander.

■ Remain in the degree for which the scholarship is awarded, changes to another degree are not
permitted.
■ A monitoring report will be requested in February 2022 indicating academic performance.

Data transfer
The acceptance of a scholarship within the framework of this Call implies the consent of the beneficiary of
the same, for the transfer of their data to Banco Santander, for the following purposes:

■ For their incorporation into the file of the current Santander Scholarship Portal.
■ For statistical purposes, as well as for the study of the use of services by users, the design of new
services, and the sending of technical and operational information about its services so that the
user benefits from all of them.

■ To send information about the Bank's own products, as well as its institutional information.

Incompatibility
This scholarship will be incompatible with any other scholarship or aid awarded by the University of
Salamanca within the framework of different national or international calls.

Cancellation and resignation

The following will be cause for cancellation of the scholarship:

■ The verification of any irregularity in the data expressed in the application or loss of the
conditions or requirements of appointment.
■ Failure to comply with any of the intern's obligations.
■ Failure to join the University of Salamanca before the first day of the course of the degree to which
the scholarship recipient has been admitted.
■ The improper use, or non-use, of the services of the USAL university residence assigned to the
scholarship recipient.
■ Failure to attend the scholarship award ceremony organized by USAL and Banco Santander, except in duly
justified cases.
■ Leaving the University of Salamanca environment without authorization for a period of two to four
weeks, or leaving for more than a month.
■ Voluntary resignation or abandonment of the program due to withdrawal.
■ Insufficient academic performance during the first semester.

Cancellation will mean the loss of all rights inherent to the scholarship.

Resolution
This call will be resolved by means of a Resolution of the Vice-Rector of International Relations, which
will be published on the website of the International Relations Service http://rel-int.usal.es/ and on the
electronic notice board of the University of Salamanca before July 31, 2021 .

Those selected will receive individual notification at the email address that appears in the application.

Against the publication of this Resolution, interested parties may present an optional appeal for
reconsideration before the Rector, within a period of one month from the publication, in the Single Registry
or in the electronic Registry of the University of Salamanca (electronic headquarters https ://sede.usal.es/
). The filing of an administrative appeal by any other means (including email) will not be considered valid
for any purpose.
Notwithstanding the above, foreign applicants who do not have a NIE (Foreign Identity Number) may also
present this appeal at diplomatic representations or consular offices of Spain abroad.
Likewise, the publication of this resolution is susceptible to a contentious-administrative appeal,
directly before the Contentious Administrative Courts of Salamanca, within a period of two months, counting
from its publication, in accordance with Law 29/1998 of contentious jurisdiction. .
