Many people believe that social networking sites ( such as Facebook) have a huge negative impact on both

individuals and society. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

These days, media platforms, for example Facebook and Instagram, are a detriment to both individual people and
society. However, in my opinion, social media's benefits to our lives are more significant than their drawbacks.
In terms of the disadvantages, on an individual level, excessive use of social media can lead to addiction which
causes individuals to spend most of their time in front of the screen. Therefore, they will waste valuable time on
useless things, instead, they could participate in sports activities. Moreover, the frequent use of social media can not
only dull our mental sharpness, making us reluctant to communicate with others but also contribute to physical health
problems, such as headaches and back pain. Besides individuals, the drawbacks of social media also affect on societal
level, especially the young generation. Social media platforms may cause young people to compare themselves with
their peers, leading to peer pressure. They are then constantly influenced by the successful and glamorous lives of
others. This can lead to mental health issues such as depression and low self-esteem.
Despite the above drawbacks, social networking sites also bring many benefits in doing wonders for human life
regarding global connectivity. People from different countries can easily communicate and get to know each other
through messaging and video calling features, regardless of geographical location. In addition, social networking sites
are also a useful tool that brings many job opportunities to everyone. For example, companies post recruitment
information on social media platforms so that job seekers can register to find a suitable job. When it comes to
education, social media have a rich source of learning materials on all different topics and fields, which are useful for
research and learning. Moreover, social networks help connect people with similar interests through suggestions to
join study groups, thereby spreading knowledge, sharing the spirit of learning and promoting cooperation.
In conclusion, while social media makes communication easier, its negative impacts on individuals and communities
are enormous. It is essential that we should recognize and address this issue in order to create a healthy society.

Some people believe that robots will play an important role in future societies, while others argue that robots
might have negative effects on society. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
Robots are likely to be seen as an indispensable part of our future society. While some people argue that robots might
have adverse impacts on society, I believe that the benefits of robots possibly outweigh the negative aspects of it.
On the one hand, there are two main reasons why robots may become a threat to our society in some ways. Firstly,
there is a belief that robots have been a substitution for humans in the labour market. This means that human workers
are now becoming redundant and facing risks of unemployment. As a result, many complex social problems emerge
such as poverty and the increase of social evils. Second, if robot production is not handled carefully and properly, it
can also affect the environment because waste in the production process contains many impurities that are harmful to
the environment.
On the other hand, I would agree with those who think that robots are of great significance in future society. the first
benefit is that robots could provide a helping hand to humans in terms of housework. For instance, the iRobot
Roomba can help do household chores such as vacuuming and mopping and this gives people more time for leisure
activities. Moreover, robots can carry out complex, heavy tasks and reduce risks to human life in dangerous and
inaccessible activities such as deep-sea exploration. The second benefit as regards healthcare is that robots assist
humans in physical therapy surgery with high precision to save more lives.
In my view, job replacement also has a negative impact on society, especially the human workforce, which also
affects the economic development of the country, but we cannot deny the benefits that robots bring to do wonders for
human life. Therefore, it may be necessary to have reasonable measures to balance between humans and robots in
order to develop in all aspects of society.
In conclusion, there are compelling arguments for and against the role of robots in the future, but I believe that robots
will bring many benefits to future society.
