Description of Remote WEB Loading Software

Comprehensive Overviews
1. About the Instruction
The instruction mainly provides instructions and guidance on how SC501 controller
realizes remote upgrade function via Web and how the APP program and Web program of
SC501 controller can be upgraded via Web.
Hardware
• A computer with a network card.
• A standard net cable.
• A router if local area network is needed.
Software
• The latest version of a browser, such as IE, Google or Firefox browser.
If the computer system is Windows XP, the latest Google or Firefox browser is
recommended.
Direct Connection between controller and the computer
The simplest method to realize the communication between the computer and the controller
is to connect these two with a net cable and to set the computer’s IP address correctly. Then
users should open the computer’s browser, input the controller’s IP address in the browser’s
address filed and press “enter” to enter the controller’s Web login page. The detailed
procedures are as follows:
（1） Connect the controller with the computer via a standard net cable. When the link LED
of net port is on and twinkling, the connection is successful.

(2) Check the controller’s IP address and gateway information: system administration >
main monitoring setting > communication setting. Find Record IP address and default
gateway in the menu of communication setting. The controller’s default IP address is
192.168.1.5; and the default gateway is 192.168.1.1.
(3) Set the computer’s IP address and default gateway: check the status of local
connection in the menu of computer’s network connection. Click “properties” in box of
local connection status, and select IPv4 in the properties box. Click “properties”. Input
IP address, sub-net mask and default gateway in the properties box popped out and
click “Yes”.

(4) Users should open the computer’s browser, input IP address in its address field (the IP
address of public network should be used for the long distance link in the Internet) and
click “Yes” to enter the controller’s Web login interface, which means the computer and
the controller is connected.

The Web interface of the SC501 controller can be accessed via the Internet or by directly
using a net cable to connect the controller with a computer

• User field: enter the login account;
• Password field: enter the login password;
• Guest field: select this to login at the lowest privilege level;
• Login button: click to login the Web interface.

Note: admin level or higher level of operations authority is required for the upgrade of APP
program and Web program. The default login password is 170313.

2. Web Interface Overviwe
After login, the home page will appear firstly which is composed of a status field at
top, a menu bar at left and a contents box in the middle. The status field is mainly used to
display the operating mode and operating status of power system in real time. The menu
bar is composed of drop-down lists, including the menu buttons of all Web interface
functions. Click the corresponding menu button, the contents box will show the
corresponding retails.

Users should find “About” in the menu bar and click it, and the operation interface of
upgrading APP program and Web program will appear.
3. Home Page of “About” Field
The about’s home page is mainly composed of four parts: the company’s basic
information, the controller’s basic information, the information about time setting and the
controller’s upgrade information. Click “About” in the menu bar to enter the about’s home
page as follows:

• The controller’s upgrade information provides the controller’s firmware upgrade, Web

upgrade, language package upgrade and the uploading & downloading of system
configuration information. To upgrade controller, users should select correct file, click
“upload” and wait for the completion. The waiting time may take a few minutes. In regard
of downloading system configuration information, users should click “download” and the
file will be automatically saved in the folder of the browser’s downloaded contents. For
the SC501 controllers, the configuration file name will be
“SC501_SystemConfiguration.dat”.
Notes: If the upgrade on controllers is needed, please allow the professionals to operate.
Don’t operate the controller during the upgrade process, or the controller upgrade may
fail or make errors.

4. APP Object Program File Specification

Notes:
1. Don’t operate the controller during the APP program upgrade process, or the APP
program loading may fail.
2.The file selected for upgrade must be correct, or the system will lose the original APP
program.
3. If APP program and Web program are to be upgraded simultaneously, the former
should be given priority.
The APP object program is a .dat file,the name of which is composed of controller type, file
function description and version No.. For example, “SC501_APP_U100_A100_160708.dat”,
wherein:
APP: indicates the file is for APP object program;
SC501: indicates the file is applicable to SC501 type controllers.
A100: indicates the file version No.;
160708: indicates the date of Jul.8, 2016.
5. Upgrade Operation of APP Program
1. Click “Select File” in the line of Firmware Update and select the correct APP program
upgrade file in the dialog box popped as follows (shown as Fig.5.1):

2. Select the file “SC501_APP_U100_A100_160708.dat”. Click “open” and the details
will appear in the line of Firmware Update as follows (Fig.5.2):

3. Click “Upload” in the line of “Firm Update” to enter update status. Then the browser
will open a new page and wait for loading contents. The upgrade may take 1 to 3
minutes.
4. If the data uploading OK, click “Upload” and the data uploading progress is available
at the left bottom of the new page opened as follows (shown as Fig. 5.3). If the
progress is not up to 100% and “waiting response” appears, the data uploading fails.
Users need to refresh the loading page or click “Upload” for data uploading again. If
the progress is up to 100% and “waiting......” appears, the result is shown in Fig. 5.4.
If the data is uploaded successfully, the result is shown in Fig. 5.5.

5. Upon the data uploading is completed, click the home page to re-load the page after
15s. If the home page can be loaded, it indicates the program hasn’t entered
upgrade status. Users need to click “Upload” for program upgrading again.
6. If the program upgrading fails, the webpage will enter Bootloader mode after the
webpage begins loading again as follows (Fig.5.6). The step 1 should be repeated.

7. After upgraded, SC501 controller will restart automatically. Users may refresh
webpage to re-load information.

6. Web Object Program File Specification

Notes:

3.If APP program and Web program are to be upgraded simultaneously, the former should

“SC501_Web_Chinese_U100_A100_160708.dat”, wherein:
Web: indicates the file function is Web object program;
Chinese: indicates the Web interface is displayed in Chinese;
SC501: indicates the file is applicable to SC501 type controllers.

A100: indicates the file version No.;
160708: indicates the date of Jul.8, 2016.
7. Upgrade Operation of Web Program
1. Click “Select File” in the line of Web Update and select the correct Web program
upgrade file in the dialog box popped as follows (shown as Fig.5.1):

2. Select the file “SC501_Web_Chinese_U100_A100_160708.dat”. Click “open” and the
details will appear in the line of Web Update as follows (Fig.5.2):

3. Click “Upload” in the line of “Web Update” to enter update status. Then the browser
will open a new page and wait for loading contents. The upgrade may take 1-5
minutes.
4. If the upgrade fails, repeat step 1.
5. Upon the upgrade is completed, “Success!” will appear in the page of loading
contents.
