medium bends depends on:
a. The speed of light

b. None of the above

c. The wavelength of light

d. The frequency of light

3. While doing experiment with candle to find focal length of a concave mirror, the candle
is placed between:
a. pole and focus

b. at focus

c. focus and centre of curvature

d. beyond focus

4. The radius of curvature of a spherical mirror is 20 cm. What is its focal length?

5. Out of convex mirror and a concave mirror, whose focus is situated behind the mirror?

6. An object 3 cm high is placed 20 cm from convex lens of focal length 12 cm. Find the
nature, position and height of the image.
7. An object is placed at a distance of 10 cm from a convex mirror of focal length 15 cm.
Find the position and nature of the image.

8. An object of size 7.0 cm is placed at 27 cm in front of a concave mirror of focal length

18 cm. At what distance from the mirror should a screen be placed, so that a sharp focused
image can be obtained? Find the size and the nature of the image.
9. Why do we prefer a convex mirror as a rear-view mirror in vehicles?

SUBJECT: CHEMISTRY
Q1. Write the balanced chemical equations for the following reactions and identify the type of
reaction in each case.
(a) Nitrogen gas is treated with hydrogen gas in the presence of a catalyst at 773K to form
ammonia gas.
(b) Sodium hydroxide solution is treated with acetic acid to form sodium acetate and water.
(c) Ethanol is warmed with ethanoic acid to form ethyl acetate in the presence of concentrated
H2 SO4.
(d) Ethene is burnt in the presence of oxygen to form carbon dioxide, water and releases heat
and light.
Q2. Write the balanced chemical equations for the following reactions and identify the type of
reaction in each case.
(a) Thermit reaction, iron (III) oxide reacts with aluminium and gives molten iron and
aluminium oxide.
(b) Magnesium ribbon is burnt in an atmosphere of nitrogen gas to form solid magnesium
nitride.
(c) Chlorine gas is passed in an aqueous potassium iodide solution to form potassium chloride
solution and solid iodine.
(d) Ethanol is burnt in air to form carbon dioxide, water and releases heat.
Q3. A solution of potassium chloride when mixed with silver nitrate solution, an insoluble
white substance is formed. Write the chemical reaction involved and also mention the type of
the chemical reaction?
Q4. A silver article generally turns black when kept in the open for a few days. The article
when rubbed with toothpaste again starts shining.
(a) Why do silver articles turn black when kept in the open for a few days? Name the
phenomenon involved.
(b) Name the black substance formed and give its chemical formula.
