(3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the APU or bleed air.

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration

(1) Make sure that the APU does not operate and there is no bleed air.
(2) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. TASK 24-41-00-861-002-A ) or (Ref. TASK 24-41-00-861-002-A-01 ) or (Ref. TASK
24-41-00-861-002-A-02 ).
(3) Do the EIS start procedure (upper ECAM DU and lower ECAM DU only)
(Ref. TASK 31-60-00-860-001-A).
(4) Make sure that you maintain a minimum fuel quantity of 500 kg (1102 lb) in each tank.

(1) Feel the see/feel indicator with your hand to make sure that LP valve actuator 9QG is in the closed
position.
(2) Retract the slats (Ref. TASK 27-80-00-866-005-A).

B. Removal of the Fuel Drain Plug from Engine 1 Fuel Filter (To Do a Test of Engine (ENG) 1 LP Fuel-Valve

(1) Open the applicable fan cowl doors
(Ref. TASK 71-13-00-010-802-A)
.
(2) Open the applicable Thrust Reverser (T/R) cowl doors

(3) Remove the fuel drain plug (1) from engine 1 fuel filter as follows:
(a) Put the CONTAINER 200 L (53 USGAL) in position below engine 1 fuel filter.
(b) Loosen the drain plug bolt (3).
(c) Turn and remove the fuel drain plug (1) from engine 1 fuel filter.
(d) Remove and discard the packing (2) from the fuel drain plug (1).
(e) Drain the fuel into the CONTAINER 200 L (53 USGAL).
(f) Put the CONTAINER 200 L (53 USGAL) below the fuel drain plug (1) to do a check of the fuel flow
during the test:
1 Make sure that you do not put fuel that you drained from the engine back into the fuel
system.

(3) Remove the fuel drain plug (2) from engine 1 fuel filter as follows:
(a) Put the CONTAINER 200 L (53 USGAL) below engine 1 fuel filter.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE.
DISCARD LOOSE OR USED LOCKWIRE IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE OR USED
LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
(b) Cut, remove and discard the lockwire from the fuel drain plug (2).
(c) Remove the fuel drain plug (2) from engine 1 fuel filter.

(d) Remove and discard the packing (1) from the fuel drain plug (2).
(e) Drain the fuel into the CONTAINER 200 L (53 USGAL).
(f) Put the CONTAINER 200 L (53 USGAL) below the fuel drain plug (2) to do a check of the fuel flow
during the test:
1 Make sure that you do not put the fuel that you drained from the engine back into the fuel
system.

(2) Open the applicable Thrust Reverser (T/R) cowl doors

(3) Remove the fuel drain plug (1) from engine 1 fuel filter as follows:
(a) Put the CONTAINER 200 L (53 USGAL) below engine 1 fuel filter.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE.
DISCARD LOOSE OR USED LOCKWIRE IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE OR USED
LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
(b) Cut, remove and discard the lockwire or safety cable from the fuel drain plug (1).
(c) Remove the fuel drain plug (1) from engine 1 fuel filter.
(d) Remove and discard the packing (2) from the fuel drain plug (1).
(e) Drain the fuel into the CONTAINER 200 L (53 USGAL).
(f) Put the CONTAINER 200 L (53 USGAL) below the fuel drain plug (1) to do a check of the fuel flow
during the test:
1 Make sure that you do not put the fuel that you drained from the engine back into the fuel
system.

C. Do a Test of Valve 12QM

(1) In the test that follows, on each operation of the LP valve:
• Make sure that the see/feel indicator operates smoothly from the valve open (valve
closed) position to the valve closed (valve open) position.
• Make sure that the see/feel indicator marks are accurately aligned with the valve open
position.
• Make sure that the see/feel indicator marks are at 90 deg (90 deg) to each other with the
valve closed position.
WARNING: WHEN YOU OPERATE THE FUEL PUMPS DURING A MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE,
A MAINTENANCE PERSON MUST BE IN THE COCKPIT. THIS PERSON MUST

(b) Install the packing (2) on the fuel drain plug (1).
(c) Install and turn the fuel drain plug (1) on the washer (4) and the drain plug bolt (3) of engine 1 fuel
filter.
(d) TORQUE the drain plug bolt (3)
to between 60 and 70 LBF.IN (0.68 and 0.79 M.DAN)

(1) Install the fuel drain plug (1) on engine 1 fuel filter as follows:
(a) Soak the new (IPC-CSN 73-11-10-01-290 ) PACKING (2) in Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material
No: 01ABA1 ).
(b) Lubricate the packing (2) with vaseline (Material No: CP5070).
(c) Install the packing (2) on the fuel drain plug (1).
(d) Install the fuel drain plug (1) in the correct position on engine 1 fuel filter.
(e) TORQUE the fuel drain plug (1)
to between 0.51 and 0.62 M.DAN (45.13 and 54.87 LBF.IN)
.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE.
DISCARD LOOSE OR USED LOCKWIRE IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE OR USED
LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
(f) Safety the fuel drain plug (1) with lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. (Material No: CP8001 ) or with
lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia (Material No: CP8002 ).
(2) Remove the CONTAINER 200 L (53 USGAL).
(3) Discard the drained fuel in the approved area.
(4) Close the applicable T/R cowl doors

(a) Apply lubricant, aircraft turbine engine (Material No: P03-001 ) to the new (IPC-CSN
73-11-02-01-280 ) PACKING (2).
(b) Install the packing (2) on the fuel drain plug (1).
(c) Install and turn the fuel drain plug (1) on the washer (4) and the drain plug bolt (3) of engine 2 fuel
filter.
(d) TORQUE the drain plug bolt (3)
to between 60 and 70 LBF.IN (0.68 and 0.79 M.DAN)

(2) Remove the CONTAINER 200 L (53 USGAL).
(3) Discard the drained fuel in the approved area.

(b) Lubricate the packing (2) with vaseline (Material No: CP5070).
(c) Install the packing (2) on the fuel drain plug (1).
(d) Install the fuel drain plug (1) on engine 2 fuel filter.
(e) TORQUE the fuel drain plug (1)
to between 0.51 and 0.62 M.DAN (45.13 and 54.87 LBF.IN)
.
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE.
