Electrical characteristics:

Rated power: 25W/m

Voltage: 127V or 220V.

3. Briefly describe the materials and components

necessary for mounting the anti-theft alarm

An alarm system is made up of the following elements:

1. Signaling and control unit

It is the team in charge of permanently managing the functionality of all the elements
of the alarm system. It should be installed in a hidden location to make it difficult for
intruders to locate.

2. Control keyboard
Device used by the user to communicate with the central unit and control the system.
Normally the control keyboard with display or touch screen is used. Since it provides
more information to the user. It must be installed close to the entrance.

3. Intrusion detectors
Set of magnetic, volumetric or vibrating devices, specially designed to analyze
movements within the protected area. They permanently communicate with the
central unit to report their status. It can be alarm, rest or sabotage.

The number and distribution of detectors is defined in the design prior to installation. It
depends on the identification of the points with the highest risk of intrusion, among
other factors.

4. Mermaids

They activate an acoustic signal to indicate the alarm has been triggered. A notice at
the local level.

5. Communicators
Electronic devices responsible for transmitting the alarm to the central receiving
station. The traditional means of communication used is the telephone line. This
communication channel does not have supervision.
4. Write the steps of assembling the circuit and explain the
working principle of the alarm you designed.

The control or maneuver elements are devices that allow us to open or close the

circuit when we need it. These are some examples:

Table with symbols and images of maneuver and control elements.

Switches.

A (simple) switch allows us to open or close a circuit and remains in the same position
until we press again.

A double or double pole switch is a switch that opens and closes two circuits at the
same time.

Pushbuttons.

A button allows us to open or close the circuit only while we are

acting on it. When we stop pressing it returns to its initial position.

5
FINAL COURSE WORK

Normally open pushbutton (NO):

In the rest state the circuit is open, and closes when pressed.

Normally closed push button (NC):

In the rest state the circuit remains closed, and opens when pressed.

Switches.

Switches 1 circuit various positions:

A switch is an element that establishes an association between an

input and one of the multiple outputs it has. This connection lasts
over time, until we flip the switch again. The two position switch has
3 pins . The middle connection is the common one, and pins A and B
are the possible outputs.

Double or bipolar switch:

The element that you can see in the figure is a 2-circuit, two-position
switch (6 contacts). It consists of two two-position switches that are
activated at the same time.

6
FINAL COURSE WORK

Microswitches.

A microswitch or limit switch is a component that is operated by a

lever pushed by a moving element.

Depending on the way it is connected, it can behave as a switch or

as a push button, being able to select the initial position as normally
open (NO or NO) or normally closed (NC).

The symbols that we will use will be the same as those on the switch
and buttons, but we must indicate on the circuit that these are limit
switches.

To carry out practical assemblies, you must identify the pins of the
microswitch . The leg that is closest to the lever support is the
common one, which must always be connected. The middle one is
the normally open one, and the last one is the normally closed one.

7
FINAL COURSE WORK

Relays .

A relay is an automatic switch controlled by electricity . Relays allow

electrical circuits to be opened or closed without human
intervention.

The relay is the element that gives the order to operate the motor of
an automatic door, the lights of a traffic light, the motor of an
elevator, and a multitude of automatic systems.

Its operation is as follows:

When electric current is passed through the coil or electromagnet, it

generates a magnetic field around it, and attracts the armature
which, with its movement, causes the contacts to change position.

In this way we are acting on a switch through electric current,

without physical contact.

The relay symbol varies depending on the number of contacts it has.

It can be a switch, a single-pole switch, a double or bipolar switch,…

5. Describes the security measures it considers to avoid

suffer any accident while doing work

There are many risk factors in a job that, if avoided or controlled, reduce the chances of
someone suffering an accident. They are the following:

 Mark and accurately indicate dangerous areas, such as those with electrical contact,
toxic or flammable materials.
 Maintain cleanliness and order throughout the place. One of the main causes of
accidents is caused -for example- by the fall of dangerous objects.
 Maintain adequate safety conditions, such as correct lighting. Falls, for example, are
also the cause of thousands of accidents, especially in high-risk jobs.
 Know where the fire extinguishers, emergency exits, etc. are located. Additionally, it is
important to be aligned with the company's safety policies and health plans.

According to Philippe Vanhuynegem, ILO Director for the Netherlands, the global cost of
poor health and safety practices is estimated at 4% of annual GDP. Globally, more than 2.3
million people die every year from workplace accidents.

8
FINAL COURSE WORK

Safety and health are very important in an organization. When employees are safe and free
from the risk of workplace accidents, they are more productive, motivated, and perform their
jobs smoothly and with satisfaction.
