HOMOSEXUALITY

AND
TRANSGENDERISM
Presented by: Group 12
HOMOSEXUALITY - Homosexuality refers to attraction between people
who are the same sex. It comes from the Greek word homos, meaning
“the same.”

Gay, Lesbian, LQBTQ, Queer, or a number of terms

Example of Famous Queer People:

Vice Ganda Kristen Stewart Ellen DeGeneres

Transgenderism - The quality or characteristic of being transgender.

Transgender - An umbrella term for persons whose gender identity,

gender expression, or behavior does not conform to that typically
associated which they were assigned at birth.
Example of Famous Trans People:

Hunter Schafer BB Gandang Hari

Genesis 19 is the first Old Testament text addressing homosexuality in Sodom and
Gomorrah.
God sends angels disguised as men to Sodom, where they threaten rape and destroy the
city.
The text condemns inhospitality and oppression, not homosexuality, and highlights the
city's history.
Jude 7 identifies Sodom's sin as homosexuality
Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 prohibit lying with a male as a woman, committing both
abominations.
Vines questions the validity of Old Testament laws like prohibitions on murder,
adultery, and idolatry, arguing that they are no longer binding. He also questions
whether laws about sexual morality still apply today.

The author acknowledges the Mosaic covenants are no longer binding but emphasizes
individual laws must reflect God's wisdom.
2. How should we analyze recent arguments claiming that the Bible can be interpreted to allow
for faithful homosexual relationships?

In the first edition of Kingdom Ethics, Glen Stassen and David Gushee affirmed a
traditional Christian position, stating the "homosexual conduct is one form of sexual
expression that falls outside the will of God."

But in the second edition, Gushee advocates what he calls "an evangelical revisionist
view". "It is morally permissible in God's sight for gay and lesbian people to enter
conventional-marital same-sex relationships (not casual or promiscuous relationships).
Judith and Jack Balswick at Fuller Seminary suggest some Christians may choose a lifelong,
monogamous, homosexual union, while Tony Campolo and Steve Chalke advocate for full
acceptance of Christian gay couples into the Church.

Apostle Paul's 1 Corinthians 6:9 verse condemns homosexuality as a sin, highlighting the
biblical prohibition against it.

Understanding the Bible's original language, setting, and sexual ethics lessons is crucial, while
maintaining compassion and empathy.
3. Is homosexual desire wrong?
God demands moral perfection in human actions and heart attitudes.
Homosexual desires are considered dishonorable, leading to shameful lusts and
unnatural relationships, as seen in Romans 1:26. “"Because of this, God gave them over
to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural
ones."
and Paul says that homosexual partners are "consumed with passion for one another"
(Romans 1:27)
"In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with
lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves
the due penalty for their error."

There's a distinction between wrongful desires and wrongful actions can be made with
regard to many areas of life
Homosexual desires are wrong in God's sight, but actually committing homosexual acts is far
more harmful.
4. Can people can be born gay?
"SOME PEOPLE ARE 'BORN GAY' AND ARE UNABLE TO CHANGE"

Matthew Vines believes that sexual orientation is natural and difficult to

change, and that linking behavior to biology normalizes sin and eliminates
accountability for feelings and actions.
ARE PEOPLE BORN GAY? THE ANSWER IS "NO"
" So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God He created them; male
and female He created them" (Genesis 1:27)

Humans are SINFUL BY NATURE

"For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have
the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out" (Romans 8:3)

" I was sinful when my mother conceived me" (Psalms 51:5)

HUMAN HEART IS DESPERATELY WICKED
"The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?"
(Jeremiah 17:9)

THE FLESH IS WEAK

"Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
(Matthew 26:41)

Even though our human selves are weak, OUR ENEMY IS NOT OURSELVES, BUT THE DEVIL
"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to
devour" (1 Peter 5:8)
The world, more specifically, the society today, will keep on romanticizing and normalizing
these ideas. But the Bible says:
"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of
your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing
and perfect will" (Romans 12:2)
"Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong" (Exodus 23:2)
But God promises us a good future
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11)

One must strive for change, and growth in Christ

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9)
5. How should we evaluate the claims of certain people that they are
“transgender”?

Some people today claim to be "transgender" - they identify

themselves as having a gender that is different from their biological
sex. Someone who is biologically a male may claim as a female, and
someone who is biologically a female may claim to identify as a male.
Gender identity and expression are rooted in God's glory and earthly distinctions, like
males and females in human households.

Evaluating transgender claims requires empathy, respect, and understanding, while

human rights principles emphasize equal treatment and respect for each person's
intrinsic value.
6. Can sex-change surgery change a man into a woman, or a woman into a
man?
Sex-change surgery is a medical operation that involves changing a
person's physical traits to match their gender identification. It is
sometimes referred to as gender confirmation surgery or gender
reassignment surgery.
Sex-change surgery cannot change a person biologically.
Not all transgender individuals prefer surgeries, but they can
significantly impact their transition.
Respecting gender identification, regardless of physical attributes, is
crucial for inclusivity and understanding, recognizing the interior sense
of self.
Summarization:
Biblical passages about homosexuality are no longer binding today
but each individual must weigh God's wisdom over their pleasant
or displeasing behaviors.
Some people claim that homosexual relationships are not sinful,
however, according to the Bible, homosexual desire is considered
wrong.
Summarization:
Homosexual desires are wrong in God's sight, but actually committing homosexual
acts is far more harmful.
Are people born gay? Since everyone of us was made in the likeness of God, the
answer is no.
Some people today claim to be "transgender" . The Bible says that we should
appreciate and embrace our biological sex given by God.
Sex-change surgery cannot change a person biologically because God intends that
a person's gender identity should be determined by that person's biological sex.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ provides forgiveness and hope for a
transformed life for all sinners, emphasizing love, kindness, and non-
judgmental behavior. Christians believe in compassion and respect,
promoting acceptance and a more positive life.
