Objective and scope.

This report describes the work carried out to determine the type of foundation and the
structural system to be used. Calculations are presented to determine the amount of
reinforcing steel in concrete elements and their dimensions.
The works cover the following aspects:

• Determination and description of the structural system.

• Load analysis of the used system.
• Earthquake design.
• Review of resistance limit states.
• Review of service limit states.
General description of the building.
to. General characteristics of the building.
1. General structural description.
Foundation

The proposed foundation is based on isolated footings planted at a depth of two meters (2.00
m) and given for the concrete columns.

All the columns were conceived as embedded in their base so there will be transfer of
moments to the foundation, these moments will be absorbed by the counterbeams and the
footings will work only under axial loads.

The materials to be used are the following:

> Conventional class II concrete with minimum simple compression resistance f'c = 100
kg/cm 2 only for the template.
> Class I structural concrete with minimum simple compression resistance f'c = 250
kg/cm 2 .
2 2
> Reinforcing steel with yield strength fy = 4,200 kg/cm (rebar) and fy = 2,530 kg/cm
(wire rod)
> 18 gauge annealed wire.

Structure

The projected structural system consists of a light type roof based on 22 gauge “pintro
zintro” type corrugated sheet of curved type (wonder type) with up to

20 cm. Variable cant and base between 20 cm. And the 61 cms. To cover an
approximate span of 20 meters by the self-sustaining of its arch shape, together
forming a barrel vault system, which will be supported at its ends by a concrete beam
that in turn will serve as a rain gutter, which will It will have a variable cant. The
columns will be placed between themselves @ 8.33 meters. And 8.06 meters. Where
the construction joints are located, accounting for a total of 12 columns per side to give
a total distance of 74.97 meters. which correspond to the long side of the polygon to be
covered by the dome that forms a regular rectangle of 19.35 meters. These being the
structural dimensions of the plan projection from the centers of gravity of the sections
of the strut profiles.
The proposed foundation is made up of isolated concrete footings f'c= 250 kg/cm2
reinforced with steel rods, this footing will be planted on a screeding template of poor
concrete f'c= 100 kg/cm2.

Dead load: the value of the dead loads used includes the self-weight of the structural elements
such as: arches, girders, columns, plates, etc.
Weight of false ceiling 10kg/m2.
Accessories 5kg/m2
Luminaires 10kg/m2
Curved sheet coverage 10 kg/m2

Live load: the live load value used is 10 or 30 kg/m2. (coverage) and 500 kg/m2. (catwalks)

Lateral loads: wind loads w.

The structure will be considered for the design according to its importance, as that of type “b” and
according to its response to the action of the wind, as that of type 2.

Earthquake design
The earthquake design for the project was carried out based on the recommendations of the Civil
Works Design Manual, earthquake design chapter of the CFE. Due to the geometry of the
structure, it was decided to consider a seismic behavior factor Q=2, and to consider the most
unfavorable case, the ductility reduction factor Q' will be considered equal to Q.

The selected analysis method is dynamic analysis. The software used for the structural analysis of
the project in which dynamic seismic analysis is included is RAM Elements, which uses a finite
element model to calculate the mechanical elements acting on the structural members.

The seismic design spectrum was obtained from the CFE PRODISIS program. The illustration
shows the seismic design spectrum.

WIND DESIGN

The wind design for the project was carried out based on the recommendations of the CFE Wind
Design Manual in its 2008 version. A return period of 50 years was considered. The figure shows
an isotach map for said return period in which, if the project location is located, we have a speed
that ranges between 90 and 110 km/hr, for The worst case scenario was a gust speed of 110
km/hr.

Design of reinforced concrete components. Metal structure (roof and cover) .

Curved blade review.

For the review and in order to more easily calculate the arch, we assume an arch with three joints
to give a static solution with the application of a uniformly distributed load to obtain the reactions
produced by the loads on the supports.
To facilitate the calculation, a clearance of 20.00 meters will be considered.

q = 690 KG/ML

The support reactions are obviously oblique, therefore each of them will have two components
(horizontal and vertical) so the unknowns whose value we will have to find are four.

Calculation of the vertical components of the reactions (va;y;vb)

Va=vb by symmetry
Va=vb=(qxl)/2 = (690x20)/2 = 6 900 kg.
Calculation of the horizontal components of the reactions (ha;y;hb)
Ha=hb; for it to be fulfilled: σfx=0
-(hax4.25) + (6 900x10) - (690x10x5) =0; -4.25ha+69 000-34 500=0
Ha = (34,500-69,000)/4.25 = 8,117.64 kg.
Hb = -8 117.64 kg.
Calculation of the bending moment in the quarter of the span:
Mf1=(6 900x5)-(8 117.64x4.25)-(690x5x2.5)=34 500-34 499.97-8 625=-8 625 kg-m

20 22.07 23.18 24.49 26.00 27.66 29.47 31.41

The sheet is 22 gauge so the own weight of the sheet for the length of the arch is 22.07 meters.
With an approximate 20% deflection, therefore the own weight per curved sheet will be:
22.07x8.33=183.84 kg, as the width is 0.61 more. The number of sheets that fit in the distance
between columns is: 8.33/0.61=13.65 sheets, therefore the tributary own weight for each two props
is: 13.65x183.84=2,509.41 kg.
If we consider a live load of 40 kg/m2. We would have a total load of:
22.07x40x13.65=12,050.22 kg.
The ultimate load: wu=1.2wd + 1.6wl = (1.2x 2,509.41) + (1.6x12,050.22)=22,291.64 kg
The load per linear meter to be considered will be: 22,291.64/22.07=1,010.04 kg/ml
The load per linear meter for the gutter beam will be:
15 102.25/5.867=2 574.10 kg/ml
Structures Department
He performed: MRG
Project: ARCH CEILING Revised: VGL
Location: Date: 12/2018
Page 8 of 18

Considering the gutter as a doubly embedded beam, the maximum bending moment at the
supports would be:
Mf= (wl 2 )/12 = (2 574.10x 5.867 2 )/12 =7 391.29 kg-m.
Therefore, the following section of monolithically cast concrete beam-gutter is proposed.
In order to reduce the bending moment that induces the “kick” of the arch-roof, it is recommended
to use a 1/2" diameter round made of a-36 steel, as a bracing element that practically eliminates
the kink in a certain percentage so that the column absorbs the remainder. The kick that the round
will absorb is: f=axft=1.27x2 039=2582 kg
