• The topic sentence of the paragraph is the most important sentence which identify the main idea and point
of the paragraph.
• The supporting details in the paragraph will develop or explain the topic sentence.
• When you write a main body of your essay, you need to explain your ideas fully. Examiners are looking to
see how you develop your topic sentences and will give you a better score if you do it well.

• An adverb clause is a dependent clause that indicates time, reason, concession, contrast, condition,
purpose, or refutation. An adverb clause begins with a connector called a subordinating conjunction, such as
after, although, if, since, and then.
• In the following sentences, the subordinating conjunctions are circled, and the adverb clause are underlined.
Note that when the adverb clause begins the sentence, it is followed by a comma.

• The second conditional is used to imagine present or hypothetical situations that are impossible or unlikely
in reality.
• The second conditional is used to imagine and to dream that the present situation is different than it really is.
Now this could be because it is impossible now or because it is unlikely to become real in the future, not
completely impossible but unlikely.
• The second conditional sentences sometimes appear in problem-solution essays to suggest solutions.
• Form:
