1 INTRODUCTION

It is of great importance to highlight that in the course of history in Colombia it is


not common for female serial killers to exist since men have taken center stage;
For this reason, it is important to know and understand the behavior of a female
murderer because cases like these are not common in our environment. The
present work aims to present the characteristics, modus operandi and its
classification according to the scenes of her crimes of a female murderer, known
by the name "The Black Widow", who was looking for men in order to acquire a life
insurance, to then kill them and in this way be able to collect the insurance.

2. CRIMINAL PROFILE OF THE BLACK WIDOW

The black widow is a woman who creates a favorable environment for society that
provides the appearance of a good woman and excellent mother. She is
characterized as a cold, calculating and perverse woman. To choose and treat her
victims, she conquered men by giving them good treatment and affection in order
to manipulate them to achieve his economic goal, he was skillful when committing
his crimes since he was fast and looked for a way to ensure that there were no
witnesses, he exercised violence in each of his crimes and emotional control
against to his victims.

3. MODUS OPERANDI OF THE BLACK WIDOW.

The modus operandi is known as the behavior and tactics used before, during and
after the execution of the crime.

She looked for men who lacked affection and were alone, she used their attributes
and her way of treating them to conquer them, she moved with her victims to

different cities and towns so that they would be away from their acquaintances,
when she had already won. The trust and love of his victims asked them to buy life
insurance, once the life insurance was purchased, he murdered them through the
use of a short sharp weapon, causing wounds at neck level which produced instant
death, he assured himself. that there were no witnesses at the scene in order to
protect her identity since in some cases the only witness was her, to which she
responded that they had been victims of a robbery.

4. MARK OF THE BLACK WIDOW

It is determined because it is a repetitive pattern in each of the crimes, which


allows establishing the characteristics of the murderer, and also allows a link
between the different crimes in which a similar characteristic is observed.

His mark is established by the wound that his victims inflicted at neck level on the
left side of the neck, caused with a short sharp weapon “knife”; In some of his
murders, notes were found in the pants pocket of his victims with a legend "in case
of emergency call Esmeda."

destroy.

He maintains control regarding his aggressive behavior, since he inflicts a


few lethal wounds and not several.

 Their victims are carefully chosen, based on deception and appearances in


order to please their victim, thus facilitating their conquest and therefore the
achievement of their ultimate goal.

 In the present case, the black widow carried out her crimes motivated by
profit and comfort and a desire for economic gain because she sought
out her victims for the sole purpose of purchasing life insurance, either for
herself or her daughters, so that later of his victim's death he could collect
the money for which the insurance was valued and spend it on material
things such as clothing, appliances, among others.
 Their crimes had long periods of time between each other

6. TIMELINE OF CRIMES

Her criminal history began in 1998 with her first husband and father of her two
daughters named Elmer de Jesús who, after purchasing the insurance that Emeida
requested, was the victim of 2 attempted hitmen, so he decided to distance himself
from his wife. His first victim was his partner Juana Pablo Ariztisabal Gutiérrez,
who was murdered in June 2001 by Eneida, who was the only witness and the
cause of his death, but her version was that she and her partner had been victims
of a robbery and that her husband The robbers had killed him in defending himself;
Some time later he collected the life insurance policy that he had made his victim
purchase. His second victim was Miguel Ángel Beleño García in May 2010, from
whom an elderly man made him buy the insurance in the name of Alfonso Muñoz,
whom he convinced and illustrated with what he should say when claiming the
insurance and how long after the tell everything to the police was found dead under
strange circumstances. This victim's insurance was frozen and could not be
collected because an investigation was underway.

In 2013, a restraining order was issued against him for the crime of aggravated
homicide.

7. CONCLUSION

It can be concluded from the black widow case that Mrs. Esmeda is categorized as
a murderer who committed her crimes motivated by profit and comfort and for
economic purposes, she was organized at the time of committing the crime, she
chose her victims very well, she involved them with her charms and later looked for
lonely places where there were no witnesses to carry out the crime, she appeared
to be a good woman but inside her a murderer was hiding, she manipulated her
victims and used them to acquire economic stability, once this goal was achieved
she murdered them and towards the victim to minimize suspicions.
