INTRODUCTION
STEER'S Acrolloy 7 is a Micro alloyed Spin cast & Forged chromium and vanadium rich iron based tool steel.
Acrolloy 7 alloying composition allows formation of vanadium carbides instead of chromium carbides for its
superior performance in an environment of either two bodies or three body abrasion and leaving sufficient
chromium in the matrix to provide good corrosion resistance. Hardness after heat treatment results in hardness
ranging from 57 to 63 HRC. The hardness can be varied based on the required mechanical properties. STEER'S
chemical heat treatment enhances the surface properties by increasing the surface hardness and abrasive wear
properties. Liquid Spinning and Forging results in elimination of non metallic inclusion and leads to uniform
distribution of carbides throughout the tempered martensite matrix and makes it fine grain structure which
leads to enhance the mechanical properties of Acrolloy 7 like toughness, bending strength etc.,
