金刚焰照耀轮涅

撼摄有寂集精华

赐予我一切所求和二种成就(悉地)

他们抛出无法抗拒的金刚钩
和永不落空之绢索
将那万有显现皆缚摄于大乐之中

他们是游戏于无边幻网的舞者
在浩瀚虚空中如芝麻花开
点点重重无尽无穷

我所依靠的
怀爱圣众三根本啊
显现在前
如山如海

所有的爱染之神啊
我虔诚地向你们祈祷
请赐予我共与不共成就
请赐予我一切爱染成就
如云所欲

In the palace of power, the blazing of great bliss,

Are the embodiments of the wisdom of discrimination,


union of bliss and emptiness:

its nature bliss free from all


attachment, as a lotus

And the splendour of a great,


illuminating vajra sun—

Dharmakāya Amitābha
and Vajradharma,

Avalokiteśvara, Lord of the World,


the very manifestation of compassion,

Padma Gyalpo,
all of sansāra and nirvāṇa under your control,

Powerful Heruka,
subjugator of all that appears and exists,

‘Secret Wisdom’ (Guhyajñana) and Vajravarāhī,

Döpe Gyalpo, King of Desire,


ecstasy supreme, treasure of the wisdom of great bliss,

Kurukullā, who captivates the
mind of every living being without exception,

Men and women of supreme and ordinary mudrās,


dancing in bliss and emptiness,

Hosts of vajra ḍākas and ḍākinīs attract and magnetize.

Remaining always within the state of great equality of


appearance and emptiness,

With the dance of your vajra body,


you cause the three planes of existence to tremble;

With the sound of your laughter,


your unceasing enlightened speech,
you draw in the three worlds;

Rays of red light burst out to


fill all of sansāra and nirvāṇa,

And cause the vital essence of conditioned existence


and ultimate peace to vibrate and be gathered in.

With your enlightened mind


of great vajra passion,

You grant the supreme of all


things desired — the two kinds of siddhis;

And with your great vajra hooks and lassoes,

You bind the world of appearance and


existence in great bliss.

Dancers in the play of the


limitless net of illusion,

Who fill space to overflowing,


like a vast outpouring of sesame seeds,

Vast array of the Three Roots,

In devotion we pray to you:


inspire us with your blessings,

Of magnetizing, without obstruction,

如是我闻。

一时,
fó zài shě wèi guó qí shù gū dú yuán
佛在舍卫国祇树孤独园。
yǔ dà ā luó hàn qiān èr bǎi wǔ shí rén jù
与大阿罗汉千二百五十人俱。
fù yǒu wú liàng dà pú sà zhòng
复有无量大菩萨众,
mí lè pú sà màn shū shì lì pú sà
弥勒菩萨、曼殊室利菩萨、
guān shì yīn pú sà ér wéi shàng shǒu
观世音菩萨而为上首,

及摩利支等,

诸天龙八部前后围绕。

若有人知彼摩利支天名者,

亦 不 可 捉 ,亦 不 可 害 ,
yì bù wéi rén qī kuáng yì bù wéi rén fù

若善男子善女人,

知彼摩利支天名者应作是言,
wǒ dì zǐ mǒu jiǎ zhī bǐ mó lì zhī tiān míng gù
我弟子某甲知彼摩利支天名故,
wú rén néng jiàn wǒ wú rén néng zhī wǒ
无 人 能 见 我 ,无 人 能 知 我 ,
wú rén néng zhuō wǒ wú rén néng hài wǒ
无 人 能 捉 我 ,无 人 能 害 我 ,

若有人识彼摩利支天菩萨者,
chú yī qiè zhàng nàn wáng nàn zéi nàn
除 一 切 障 难 、王 难 、贼 难 、
měng shòu dú chóng zhī nàn shuǐ huǒ děng nàn
猛兽毒虫之难、水火等难。

ruò rén yù xíng cǐ fǎ zhě


若人欲行此法者,
yī qiè fǎ zhōng cǐ fǎ zuì shèng
一切法中此法最胜。
chí cǐ zhòu zhě miàn xiàng bǎi yú dū nà
持此咒者面向百逾阇那,
yī qiè guǐ shén è rén wú néng dé qí biàn zhě
一切鬼神恶人无能得其便者。

若于难中行时,

晨起诵前身咒,

咒一掬水,

四方散洒及洒自身,

即往难中行,

所有一切事难军防主者悉皆迷醉,
dōu wú jué zhī zhī zhě
都无觉知之者。

闻佛说是摩利支天陀罗尼,

一心受持之者,

是人不为一切诸恶所害。

诸比丘若有人,
néng shū xiě dú sòng shòu chí zhī zhě
能书写读诵受持之者,
ruò zhuó jì zhōng ruò zhuó yī zhōng suí shēn ér xíng
若 着 髻 中 ,若 着 衣 中 ,随 身 而 行 。
yī qiè zhū è xī jiē tuì sàn wú gǎn dāng zhě
一 切 诸 恶 ,悉 皆 退 散 ,无 敢 当 者 。
shì zhū sì zhòng tiān lóng bā bù lǐ fó ér tuì
是 诸 四 众 ,天 龙 八 部 ,礼 佛 而 退 。

欢喜奉行。

此为大成就者不空之译文。
不空是來自南印的班智达,后于中土弘扬密法,也是大兴善寺的三藏沙门。

Translated by Amoghavajra, a master of tripitaka of
Daxingshan Monastery, under the imperial command

佛说摩利支天菩萨陀罗尼经 17
Thus did I hear.
At one time, the Bhagavan was dwelling in Shravasti
at Anathapindada’s monastery in Jetavana Grove, together
with a great sangha of twelve hundred and fifty great arhats.
He was also surrounded in front and behind by a
host of countless great bodhisattvas, foremost among
them the bodhisattva Maitreya, the bodhisattva Manjushri,
and the bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara; by deities including
Marichi; and by nagas and the rest of the eight classes of
gods and spirits.
On that occasion, Shariputra rose from his seat, draped
his upper robe over his left shoulder, knelt with his right
knee on the ground, and joined his palms in the direction
of the Bhagavan.

He asked the Bhagavan,

“Bhagavan, in the future, by what method can people of the


final five hundred years free themselves from all dangers?”

The Bhagavan said to Shariputra,

“Listen well and retain this in your mind. I shall teach this
to you today.”

Everyone gathered there was delighted and
rejoiced, and also encouraged the Bhagavan.

Then the Bhagavan said to the assembly of bhikshus,

“There is a goddess named Marichi who goes in front of


the sun. Because she has the means of mastery over miracles,
she always goes in front of the sun.
The sun cannot see her, but she can see the sun.
No one can see her. No one can know her.
No one can catch her. No one can harm her.
No one can delude her. No one can bind her.
No one can leave a debt to her unpaid.
No one can punish her.
She also has no fear of falling under an enemy’s control.”

The Bhagavan said to the bhikshus,

“If any individual knows Marichi’s name,


No one can see them. No one can know them.
No one can catch them. No one can harm them.
No one can delude them. No one can bind them.
No one can leave a debt to them unpaid.
No one can punish them.
They also cannot fall under an enemy’s control.”

The Bhagavan said to the bhikshus,

“If any virtuous man or woman knows


the Marichi’s name, they should say this:

佛说摩利支天菩萨陀罗尼经 37
‘I, the student called such and such, know Marichi’s name,
and by the power of that, may no one be able to see me.
May no one be able to know me.
May no one be able to catch me.
May no one be able to harm me.
May no one be able to delude me.
May no one be able to bind me.
May no one leave a debt to me unpaid.
May no one be able to punish me.
May no one be able to bring me under an enemy’s control.’

This mantra has miraculous powers. Whatever tasks you do


will be accomplished. All misdeeds will be destroyed. If you
set a boundary with this mantra, no evil will be able to come
within one hundred leagues.”

Then, the Bhagavan said the mantra:

“Protect me from the danger of kings.
Protect me from the danger of bandits.
Protect me when I travel.
Protect me from losing my way in vast, unpopulated lands.
Always protect me in the daytime.
Protect me at night.

Protect me from the dangers of water.


Protect me from the dangers of fire.
Protect me from the danger of yakshas.
Protect me from the danger of dakinis.
Protect me from the danger of poison.

Protect me through the true words of the Buddha.


Protect me through the true words of the Dharma.
Protect me through the true words of the Sangha.
Protect me through the true words of the gods.
Protect me through the true words of the sages.”

“That is the mantra to summon Marichi. There is a
Marichi’s body mantra. To say the mantra:

TADYATHĀ
OṂ VANTĀRI VANĀRI VARĀRI
VARĀHA MUKHE SARVA DUṢṬĀṂ
BANDHA BANDHA SVĀHĀ

The Bhagavan said to the bhikshus,

“An individual who knows of Bodhisattva Marichi will


be freed of all dangers: danger from kings, danger from
bandits, danger from wild beasts and poisonous insects,
and danger from fire, water, and so forth. If an individual
should wish to practice this dharma, this is supreme among
all dharma.

The area for a hundred leagues in front of a person who


retains this mantra cannot fall under the power of spirits
or evil people.

When traveling by a perilous road, arise in the morning


and recite the aforementioned body mantra.

佛说摩利支天菩萨陀罗尼经 40
Then fill your cupped palms with water, cast the mantra
over it, and sprinkle it in the four directions and on yourself.

For each mantra, tie a knot in the collar of your clothes, the
sleeves of your clothes, or the corners of a dharma robe.

In brief, tie knots three times.

As you travel along the perilous road, if you recite those two
aforementioned great mantras one after another as you go,

All dangerous forces and all the military guards will be drunk.
And neither notice nor perceive you at all.”

When the Bhagavan had spoken this sutra well, he said


to the bhikshus, bhikshunis, male and female lay practi-
tioners, king, high ministers, and all the subjects,

“Now that you have heard the dharani of Marichi that


the Bhagavan has uttered, if you retain and hold it with
a one-pointed mind, you will not be harmed by any evil.

Bhikshus, if an individual writes this sutra, reads it, or recites


it from memory, ties it to their hair topknot, or places it in
their clothing and keeps it by their body, all harms will be
scattered and there will be no one to make obstacles.”

佛说摩利支天菩萨陀罗尼经 41
Then the fourfold community, and the deities,
nagas and the rest of the eight classes of gods and spir-
its, all prostrated to the Bhagavan and, rejoicing and
praising, departed.
This completes the Sutra of the Dharani of
Bodhisattva Marichidevi.

This was translated from a Chinese translation by the


spiritual master Amoghavajra, a great scholar from Ceylon
to the south of India who spread the teachings of secret
mantra in China and was a holder of
the tripitaka of Daxingshan Monastery.
