Anything that has life is called an organism.

Animals and plants take in and use energy. This energy
is used to move, grow, reproduce and keep
functioning.
Animals are heterotrophs. This means that they cannot
make their own food. They need to eat frequently in
order to survive. Organisms that can make their own
food are called autotrophs. This is because we are
endothermic (more commonly known as warm–
blooded) the warmth of the Sun. animals like this are
said to be ectothermic. The removal of waste products
from an organism is called execration organisms react
to changes in their environment. The change is called
the stimulus – it is the things the provokes a response.
All living things are capable of reproduction. This
means that they can make new individuals that are
very similar to themselves. Reproduction can be sexual
or asexual. Sexual reproduction generally requires two
parents. Asexual reproduction generally requires two
parents. As living things become older the tend to
become larger more complicated, or both. This is called
growth.
