Memory Basics (Refresh)

Located on DIMMs on the controller boards

Increased and decreased nondisruptively*¹

Maximum size: 1024GB (VSP models: F900, G900 and E990 )

Distributes different areas of memory

LM Local Memory
PM Package Memory
DxBF Data Transfer Buffer
Installed in units of CMG (Cache Memory Group)
SM Shared Memory
CM Cache Memory
Write data is always duplicated

*1 To upgrade memory, both controllers are blocked one by one to remove the board and insert the DIMMs. During the upgrade process, the entire system runs with
degraded performance. Therefore, Cache upgrades and Shared memory expansion tasks should run in quite time.

Basic LDEVs in HSAE

Basic LDEVs are created only, while Parity Groups are built for creating and expanding pools

Basic LDEVs for other purposes (CMD, Provisioning) require different tools
(Ops Center, Command Suite, Storage Navigator, RAIDCOM, REST API).

Basic LDEVs are addressed top-down (for example, CU:ID will be FE:FF, FE:FE, FF:FD
and so on)

Maximum size of a Basic LDEV: 2.99 TB

With MPC, which is a CE tool, there is still a Storage Navigator (Webconsole) for SVP-less
storages
