1037PI Student Guide v1 0 PDF
This course provides a technical introduction to Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform (VSP) E
series, models, E990, E790 and E590. It explores the differences in the hardware
configurations and specifications of these VSP models. Also, you will review maintenance
and configuration change of new and different parts.
During this course you will complete numerous hands-on lab activities designed to build the
skills necessary to discover the key storage products presented in the course
Note: VSP midrange family include different models of VSP G series, F series, N series and E series.
These are described next.

*1 To upgrade memory, both controllers are blocked one by one to remove the board and insert the DIMMs. During the upgrade process, the entire system runs with
degraded performance. Therefore, Cache upgrades and Shared memory expansion tasks should run in quite time.

Because of the memory being striped among all DIMMs in the same CTL, a damaged DIMM
will block the entire CTL-board and all dedicated ports
All DIMMs must be the same type
DIMM type change is supported for upgrading memory on fully populated boards

Basic LDEVs are created only, while Parity Groups are built for creating and expanding pools
Basic LDEVs for other purposes (CMD, Provisioning) require different tools
(Ops Center, Command Suite, Storage Navigator, RAIDCOM, REST API).
Basic LDEVs are addressed top-down (for example, CU:ID will be FE:FF, FE:FE, FF:FD
and so on)
With MPC, which is a CE tool, there is still a Storage Navigator (Webconsole) for SVP-less
storages
All actual Hitachi midrange series have HSAE embedded on the CTL
boards
