investment (FDI) into Việt Nam reached $1.37
billion in registered capital in 2020, ranking
eighth and accounting for 4.8 per cent of the
total FDI in the country.
Following the EVFTA, the EU’s FDI into Việt Nam was
up 2.2 per cent in 2021, bringing the union to the
fifth rank and 4.5 per cent of all FDI investment
in Việt Nam

Seafood exporters are currently selling their

1 Rising shipping costs
2 the European Commission's yellow card on IUU fishing
goods under FOB, where the buyers will pay for
the shipping costs, but due to higher shipping
costs, buyers are asking for assistance from
sellers
In October 2017 after a number of Vietnamese
fishing vessels were caught trespassing in
neighboring waters. Then in 2024, despite
numerous efforts, the European Commission’s
yellow card on Vietnam has not been lifted
Vietnam’s seafood exports to the EU are
seriously affected

Favorable Coastal Location, Diverse Aquatic Species, Quality of raw materials, Skilled Workforce (The
Vietnam country and Mekong region has a pool of skilled workers experienced in aquaculture practices)

-Rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and oceanacidification pose threats to aquaculture
operations, affecting water quality and thehealth of farmed species.
-Aquaculture products may experience price fluctuations due tomarket demand, currency exchange
rates, and geopolitical factors, impacting theprofitability of aquaculture businesses.
