Dear Mayor Naga:

The Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project (PMNP), co-led by the Department of Health and
Department of Social Welfare and Development is now in its second year of implementation. The
PMNP through the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) will conduct the Landscape
Analysis/Nutrition Situation Assessment (LANA) to generate municipality profiles that will support
evidence-based planning and the implementation of nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive
interventions at Municipal and Barangay levels.

UNICEF has engaged the Nutrition Center of the Philippines (NCP) to collect data on June 11, 13
and 14, 2024 to determine the Maternal & Child Health and Nutrition Programming Landscape of the
Municipality with focus on the following components:

1. Leadership and governance 5. Data knowledge and information systems

for nutrition
2. Local financing for nutrition programs
6. Nutrition service delivery
3. Equipment and supplies for nutrition services
7. Community engagement and SBCC
4. Human resource and workforce allocation for
nutrition 8. Stakeholder Analysis

Data collection will be through 1) a desk review of key documents such as Municipal Policies and
Plans, Annual Reports, and data related to Nutrition; 2) key informant interviews with the Municipal
Health Officers (MHOs), Municipal Nutrition Action Officers (MNAOs), or FHSIS Coordinators; and
3) Focus group discussion among health service providers (Midwives, Nurses, and Nutritionist-
Dietitians).

The documents that will be requested from the municipalities are not limited to the following:

As one of the 235 project municipalities, we request your support for the successful completion of
the nutrition assessment of your municipality from data collection to validation, finalization, and
use of results. The assessment results are expected to be completed by the end of 2nd quarter of this
year.
