he resembles the sun

“asa reminds me of the moon

and how it shines the night sky
he reminds me of the cold night breeze
and the warmth of the solar
how all of me correlate between one another”

i hear people speaking loudly, with a soft yet appealing inflection, with eyes that are full of
love, with a smile that could either light up the whole room or universe.

i hear people speaking kindness in the name of you. i hear them speaking about how you
mirror the word perfect. their voice echoes throughout the hallway — throughout the whole
building. i can hear it upstairs or downstairs, i can feel it above the corona or below, i can
feel the love anywhere. for you are the epitome of the word, perfect.

one afternoon i felt the warmth of the sun. it went directly inside my skin — it merges,
gracefully. one evening i felt the light shining through the darkness, sometimes it is white,
other days it is yellow. then i looked up — to see you; Khavi Tirtayasa.

the sun.

the light.

the goodness.

the brightest star the universe could ever ask for.

As goodness stands in the intelligible realm to intelligence and the things

we know, so the sun stands in the visible realm to sight and the things we
see. — The Republic VI (508c)

khavi i don’t have to send myself to space, but i’d study the solar system and everything in
the day and night sky for years to become an astronaut just to see you up close. I'd become
anything in this universe, possibly strong enough to touch you, the sun.

“Plato uses the image of the Sun to help define the true meaning of the Good.
The Good “sheds light” on knowledge so that our minds can see true reality.
Without the Good, we would only be able to see with our physical eyes and not the
“mind’s eye”. The sun bequeaths its light so that we may see the world around us.”

you made me view the good in life. how the scale balances between one another. how every
word we say matters. in a soft or loud tone — in any ways. it mattered.

you made me enjoy the morning sky for it is a sign of your presence. how i now love the way
the sun touches my skin and reflects my eyes, showing its true color, dark brown. the mere
presence of you made me realize that love is all around us, that every single person who
entered our life for any period of time and left for whatever reason it is matters.
you resemble comfort in your own ways. how your voice softens when you call my name as
if i’d disappear if you said it too loud illustrate who you are as a human being. the way you
carry yourself and how you welcome everyone gladly with open arms and love made me
view you as not only khavi tirtayasa–but also as the prodigious kid you are growing up. i
thank your parents every day for your existence.

the good sheds light. the good sheds light. the good sheds light. khavi tirtayasa do. for he is
the good in life, for his presence will forever be immortalized through all the pieces of
literature people had written in the name of him, khavi tirtayasa.

asa, you are a strange kind of beautiful. undercover as the light, who shines between all the
chaotic mess the universe had created. I don't have to be anything or be anywhere to prove
it. anyone who sees you will always feel you.

asa, your words cast a spell on me. in one second, sometimes one minute, you made me
feel okay. in silence or in loudness, you recognize my sadness.

no words in this universe are big enough to describe how I feel towards you, how i sit in awe
when i admire you. you’ll never understand unless you can see what’s inside this heart of
mine.

asa, you came into my life and created an impact faster than the light. traveled all the way
into my veins, somehow found a way inside my heart. and just like that—i owe you the world.

tonight, i’ll return you to the night sky. Let me see you shine along with the people you love.
For you are the sanctuary i’ll always go back for. For you are The Sirius I’ll always pray for.

and to the brightest day and night sky, if i were to think about a word when i see you, it is
comfort. you are the definition of comfort.

happy valentine’s day, khavi tirtayasa. i’ll save the three magic words for bigger days ahead,
ya?

love,

JM.
