3. JUSTIFICATION
This chair constitutes a fundamental pillar in the teaching of surgery, being that it generates initial surgical knowledge in the student of
all the techniques, procedures and surgical maneuvers that are necessary for adequate performance in the area of surgery, this
within the framework of the professional profile of the future medical graduate.

4. OBJECTIVES OF THE CHAIR

GENERAL OBJECTIVE OF THE CHAIR OF SURGERY
Contribute to the surgical training of the future practical general practitioner, with the ability to perform basic and frequent surgical
maneuvers and interventions.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES OF THE CHAIR OF SURGERY

• Motivate the study of SURGERY as a basic discipline of medicine, with the contents of each topic.
• Achieve the acquisition of skills and abilities in minor surgery procedures
• Train the student in performing surgical maneuvers or techniques common to all surgery.
• Enable the student to perform “minimal operations” according to the prevalent pathology of the country.
• Develop visual perception of the most common minor surgery procedures.
• Clinically apply the knowledge acquired in each topic. Guide your behavior in cases of hospital and extra-hospital
emergencies.
• Carry out periodic evaluation of the subject to establish adjustments for improvement in its development, with the participation
of teachers and students

5. COMPETENCES
The student at the end of the module:
• They apply, develop and present, in a personalized manner, basic and frequent maneuvers and surgical interventions.
• They apply their own knowledge, abilities, skills and attitudes for application in situations that require basic surgical maneuvers
in minor surgery and frequent major surgeries.
• They acquire an ethical and critical attitude towards the use of the various components of the general surgical technique.

ABILITIES AND/OR SKILLS TO DEVELOP IN THE STUDENT

• Train the student in performing surgical maneuvers or techniques common to all surgery.
• Achieve the acquisition of skills and abilities in minor surgery procedures
• Enable the student to perform "minimal operations" according to the prevalent pathology of the country.
• Develop visual perception of the most common minor surgery procedures.
• Guide your behavior in cases of hospital and extra-hospital emergencies.

6. EVALUATION SYSTEM
Diagnostic At the beginning of each practice
Of process Partial exams
Results Final practical exam and final theoretical exam.
Others Execution of a research protocol and execution thereof.
