BOOKS FOR
LEARN

Greetings,

Many have asked me which books I recommend to learn English at home.

Going to an institute is not always an option for economic reasons or because
of leading a busy life!

If you want to study alone at home, you will go much further and learn much
faster if you have a book to guide you!

I put the books in these categories:

• Complete course
• Dictionaries
• Grammar

I recommend getting one of the complete course and also buying a dictionary
is a good investment. I only recommend one on grammar if it is something
that is difficult for you. I do NOT recommend just working on grammar. You
don't learn like that.

Here you have them!

COMPLETE COURSE
1. CUTTING EDGE
• Level : Beginner Level (A1)
• Get the book here: https://amzn.to/35i9flY

This series is great for adults. They give you everything you will need to take
your English to the next level.

If I were learning on my own from home, I

would buy one from the Cutting Edge series at
my level without a doubt!
The only thing you're going to have to keep in
mind is that you're also going to want to find
people you can talk to, you're going to want
to review all your answers in the book!

Here you have the same book for the

other levels:

Elementary e Intermediate e
(A1-A2) (A2-B1) (B1-B1+) (B1+ - B2+)

DICTIONARIES
Dictionary's are essential! If you don't have a peso, obviously using Google
translate can help. But reading a detailed explanation can help a

a lot when you are not very clear about a definition. Besides, in the act of
reading a definition you will be able to read other example sentences and
perhaps discover new words there!
I grew my Spanish vocabulary drastically by reading books and looking up
words I didn't know (and putting them on a list to continue studying)!

Here are my recommendations for a good dictionary!

This dictionary is very good and also very cheap! I recommend this book
more than anything when you are starting out and
Merriam-Webster's
want to know the translation with some explanation!
Word-for-Word
It's okay, because it goes from Spanish to English and
Spanish-English
also from English to Spanish.
*Note that several have mentioned that the
letters are half small since it is not the book for
you if your vision is half bad.

When you can, I recommend leaving the Spanish

to English dictionary behind and starting with a
pure English one! This one is in 100% English,
but made for students with more student-friendly
definitions!
*Obviously, if you are at level 0 now you are
going to want to start with the dictionary
above!

GRAMMAR
I don't recommend grammar books to everyone and many actually focus too
much on grammar! Learning a language is not about learning a list of
grammatical matters (although many teach it that way)!

So, who do I recommend grammar books to? To these groups of people:

1. You have already taken a course or a couple of courses recently and

want to review what you learned.

2. You studied English a long time ago and you have forgotten certain
things. Grammar books can serve as a summary of the main points
and the ones I recommend also offer a lot of practice.

1. Basic Grammar
I haven't seen many good books that cover all the basic grammar for
Spanish speakers. This book does! The
only bad thing is that the writer only
wrote two books to cover basic grammar.

Still, if you have struggled with basic

grammar or if you need to review it, THIS
is your book!

beginner level (levels A1 and A2) and to
reach the intermediate level!
