BUSINESS PROJECT 2022

Workbook 1
Introduction to the Module

WORKBOOK 1

This is the first workbook for the Business Project module. The role of the workbook is to
help you crystalise your ideas about your Business Project, identify potential threats to your
project and set a realistic timeline for your research.
All students on this module should be at the same starting point, namely having chosen a
topic and completed a research proposal on this topic as part of their Business Project in
Theory module.
If you did not choose a topic in Semester 1 please inform your seminar Tutor today and
contact the module leader, Konstantina Sotiropoulou, as soon as possible.
(Konstantina3.Sotiropoulou@uwe.ac.uk).
During the class activities

Activity 1: Please complete the following questionnaire as accurately as possible.

Then, discuss your answers with the student next to you.

Topic Choice:

What is your research topic?

Why are you interested in this particular
topic?
Why do you think this would make a good
research project?
How do you think your project will help you
with your future career plans?

Literature

Is there sufficient literature in your research

topic?
What is the “gap” in the literature that you
identified in your research proposal?

Methods

What are your proposed research methods?

What are two strengths of the methods you
have chosen?
What are 2 weaknesses of the methods you
have chosen?

Data Access

What kind of data are you planning to

collect (e.g. primary VS secondary)?
Are you focusing on one or multiple
individuals/companies/industries?
How are you going to collect your data?
What are the main challenges with your
proposed data collection method?
Data Analysis

What data analysis methods are you

planning to use?
How confident are you with this particular
data analysis method?
What are 2 strengths and 2 weaknesses of
your proposed data analysis method?
Are you planning to use a software in your
analysis? If yes, which one are you most
familiar with?

Activity 2: Now that you had the opportunity to think (again) about your Business Project,
prepare and deliver a mini presentation (1-2 minutes) to the class to outline your Business
Project idea. Some questions that will help you to structure your presentation are the
following:

What is your research topic?

Why do you think is this an interesting topic?
What are you hoping to find out as part of your research?
What methods are you going to use?
What kind of data are planning to collect?
What is the industry/organisation/individual that you are
conducting your research on?
