VxRail: Changes to internal components are currently not supported

in VxRail 3.x
Summary: For 4.0.100 and above, check on the EMC SolVe desktop for the components that can be
renamed.

Symptoms

By the current VxRail design, renaming or changing on following items are not supported at present, otherwise an unexpected result
could be observed.

Data Center names (Default name - MARVIN-Datacenter)

Datastore names (Default name - MARVIN-Virtual-SAN-Datastore-<UUID>)
Cluster names (Default name - EVO:RAIL Distributed Switch (VxRail 3.x and earlier) / VMware HCIA Distributed Switch (VxRail
4.x))
Networks (port groups, vmkernel ports, vDS, network teaming, VLAN IDs, all other properties)

Default Port Groups name including:

Management Network-<UUID>
MARVIN Management-<UUID>
vSphere vMotion-<UUID>
vCenter Server Network-<UUID>
Virtual SAN-<UUID>

Resource Pools
Templates
Service VMs (vCenter, PSC, VxRail Manager, ESRS, Log Insight)

Resolution

Revert the changes

Reset & Rebuild is needed under some circumstances

Additional Information

For version 4.0.100 and above some components can be changed. Please review the EMC SolVe to confirm which components can be
renamed. Please note that no action is required if the vCenter Appliance is external: the VCA (and other components) can keep
running with the current names.

Partner Notes

For example, use below command to find out original Cluster name and revert the changes
