What questions did you have about Indigenous Peoples of Canada prior to
reading the articles and video here, (List 3-5 questions you have).
Ans:-
 The questions which I have about the indigenous people prior reading the article
are as follows:-

• What are the key historical events that build the connection between the
Canadian government and Indigenous Peoples?

• What are the cultural practices and traditions of Indigenous Peoples in Canada?

• What are the main challenges and issues faced by Indigenous communities in
Canada today?

• How has the Canadian government addressed the historical injustices and sought
to reconcile with Indigenous Peoples?

• How do indigenous people take the steps towards the injustice which took place
in the history?

What new things did you learn about Indigenous Peoples of Canada that you did not
know or understand prior, (List 3-5 facts).
ANS:-
 Indigenous Peoples in Canada are diverse and consist of various
distinct nations, including First Nations, Metis, and Inuit, each with their
own unique cultures, languages, and histories.

 The term Indigenous has various synonyms such as aboriginal and


native which is used to refer them as indigenous people and they have
very unique culture as well as traditions different from other community.
 The residential school system had a significant and harmful impact on
Indigenous communities in Canada. Indigenous children were forcibly
separated from their families and cultures and subjected to abuse and
cultural assimilation.

 The Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) was established in


Canada to address the legacy of residential schools and promote
reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.

 Indigenous languages in Canada are at risk of disappearing. Efforts are


being made to revitalize and preserve these languages through
language programs, immersion schools, and community initiatives
