INTRODUCTION

The content of this work is designed with the intention of collaborating with athletes of different
sports disciplines in the satisfaction of one of the greatest needs that every person has in their
life, the spiritual need, which unfortunately is not given the importance. nor the attention it should
have in the private and public lives of all those who practice any sport.

The spiritual has taken a second place within sport because it is considered that this aspect is
linked to what religion or a certain church is and therefore it should not be mentioned within the
playing field or the daily training place and leaving the athlete to Make your own decision as to
whether or not to satisfy this need.

Through the content of each of these pages, we want to clearly establish that taking into account
Christian principles on and off the field should not be attributed to the practice of any particular
religion by athletes.

Living under the principles that God teaches us is something that all of us who practice or like a
sport must make a reality in our daily lives.

Aware that this area is not taken into account within the training program of most coaches of the
different disciplines, we took the time to compile some verses from The Bible in thematic order
and in the version God Speaks Today that its language It is understandable even for those who
have never taken the time to consult its content before in their lives. Each of the topics is aimed
at resolving some problems, conflicts, doubts or concerns that the athlete may have regarding
his or her functioning within and off the field and how this can be related to or governed by
Christian principles.

This collection of verses is not made with the intention of replacing reading the Bible, but rather
to motivate athletes to get closer to it.

We hope, then, that through each verse you read in this Sports Bible you discover the great
plans of success that God has for your life on and off the field and that all He wants to make of
you is a Total Athlete with satisfaction. in your physical, emotional and spiritual area.

ATHLETES IN THE BIBLE

When Jacob was left alone, a man wrestled with him until dawn; But when the man saw that he
could not defeat Jacob, he struck him in the joint of his hip, and that part fell away from Jacob
while he fought with him. Genesis 32:24,25

Among all these men there were seven hundred left-handed people who handled the sling so well
that they could hit a hair's breadth with the stone, without ever missing. Judges 20:16

For my part, I do not run blindly or fight as if I were punching the air. 1 Corinthians 9:26

Those who prepare to compete in a sport avoid everything that could harm them. And they do this
to win a crown as a prize that immediately withers; On the other hand, we fight to receive a prize
that does not wither. 1 Corinthians 9:25

Because we are not fighting against human powers, but against evil spiritual forces from heaven,
which have command, authority and dominion over the world of darkness that surrounds us.
Ephesians 6:12

Brethren, I do not say that I myself have already attained it; What I do do is forget about what is
behind and strive to reach what is ahead, to reach the goal and win the heavenly prize that God
calls us to receive through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:13,14

Therefore, we, having so many people around us who have demonstrated their faith, let us put
aside everything that hinders us and the sin that entangles us, and let us run with strength the
race that lies before us. Let us fix our gaze on Jesus, because our faith comes from him and he is
the one who perfects it. Jesus endured the cross, ignoring the shame of that death, because he
knew that after suffering he would have joy and happiness; and sat down at the right hand of the
throne of God. Hebrews 12:1,2

I went because God had shown me that I had to go. And there I explained before the community
the gospel that I announced to non-Jews. And I also explained it privately to those who were
recognized as having greater authority, to make it clear that what I was doing or had done was not
useless work. Galatians 2:2

Keeping the message of life firm. Thus, when Christ comes, I will be able to feel proud of you,
knowing that I have not run or worked in vain. Philippians 2:16

I hasten to fulfill your commandments because you fill my heart with joy.
Psalms 119:32

Now awaits me the deserved crown that the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that day.
And he will not only give it to me, but also to all those who lovingly await his glorious coming.
Timothy 4:8

You know that in a race everyone runs, but only one receives the prize. Well then, run in such a
way that you receive the prize. Those who prepare to compete in a sport avoid everything that
could harm them. And they do this to win a crown as a prize that immediately withers; On the
other hand, we fight to receive a prize that does not wither. For my part, I do not run blindly or fight
as if I were punching the air. On the contrary, I punish my body and force it to obey me, so as not

7
to be disqualified myself after having taught others. 1 Corinthians 9:24-27

In the same way, the athlete cannot receive the prize if he does not fight according to the rules.
He who works in the field has the right to be the first to receive his share of the harvest. 2Timothy
2:5

Thus, when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory, a crown that will
never wither. 1 Peter 5:4

“Fear not, for I have set you free;
I called you by your name, you are mine.
If you have to go through the water, I will be with you,
If you have to cross rivers, you will not drown;
If you have to go through the fire, you will not be burned, the flames will not burn in you.

and freed me from all my fears. Psalms 34:4

is not afraid when the heat comes, because its foliage is always leafy.
In times of drought it does not worry, and never stops bearing fruit.
Jeremiah 17:7,8

And not only this, but we also glory in sufferings; because we know that suffering gives us

anything.

thinks one thing and tomorrow another, and he is not constant in his behavior.

disappear in the middle of his business.

to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and riches. Matthew 6:24

have strayed from the faith and caused themselves terrible suffering. 1 Timothy 6:10

praised through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs glory and power forever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:10,11

through the Holy Spirit that he has given us. Romans 5:3-5

body, I live by my faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself to death for me.

Wait patiently for him to help you.
Do not be irritated by the one who triumphs in life, by the one who makes evil plans.

And for this reason they must strive to add good conduct to their faith; to good conduct,
understanding; to understanding, self-control; to self-control, patience; to patience, devotion; to
devotion, brotherly affection; and to brotherly affection, love.
If you possess these things and develop them, your life will not be useless nor will you have
known our Lord Jesus Christ in vain. But he who does not possess them is like a blind or short-
sighted person; He has forgotten that he was cleansed from his past sins.

ahead, Philippians 3:12,13

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how to pray properly,

He will have his refuge in a fortress of rocks, he will always have bread and water will not be
lacking. Isaiah 33:15,16

Have courage and firmness, because you are going to distribute the land to these people,
because it is the inheritance that I promised to their ancestors. The only thing I ask of you is that
you have a lot of courage and firmness, and that you fulfill all the law that my servant Moses gave
you. Follow it to the letter so that everything you do goes well. Always repeat what the book of the
law of God says, and meditate on it day and night, so that you always do what it commands. So

But if what we expect is something that we have not yet seen, we have to wait for it by suffering
firmly.

Who can separate us from the love of Christ? Suffering, or hardship, or persecution, or hunger, or
lack of clothing, or danger, or violent death? As the Scripture says:
“Because of you we are always exposed to death; “They treat us like sheep being led to the

38
slaughterhouse.”
But in all this we emerged more than conquerors through him who loved us. I am convinced that
nothing can separate us from the love of God: neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor spiritual
powers and forces, nor the present, nor the future, nor the highest, nor the deepest, nor none
other of the things created by God. Nothing will be able to separate us from the love that God has
shown us in Christ Jesus our Lord!

people. Colossians 1:11,12

him dedicate himself to teaching; He who has received the gift of encouraging others, let him
dedicate himself to encouraging them. He who gives, let him do it with simplicity; He who occupies
a position of responsibility should carry out his position with all care; He who helps those in need,
do so with joy. Romans 12:4-8
